We had earlier reported that the rulers in Goa weren't happy with the content of Dum Maro Dum, for which they had expressed their condemnation. Dum Maro Dum explores the organized drug trade in Goa, but Goa's former Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco had said that Dum Maro Dum was an attempt to label Goa as a drug, prostitution and crime infested state. The voice against Dum Maro Dum is gaining fierce, which was even echoed at the Goa State Assembly.

A recently released trailer of the movie has added fuel to the fire due to a statement by Bipasha Basu's character. In the movie, Bipasha appears as a Goan woman Zoe, who in the trailer, says, “Here, liquor is cheap and women are even cheaper.” The line has kicked up a storm, which was even mentioned by Goan MLA Victoria Fernandes in the State Assembly.

Apart from the official condemnation for the movie, Shiv Sena's Goan chapter too had taken up the issue and is opposing the screening of the movie. While Goans are frowning at the movie, its makers assert that the movie will create awareness on the dangers of drug abuse. The movie's lead Abhishek Bachchan even helped promote Narcotics Control Bureau's marathon run on creating awareness about drug abuse. As Dum Maro Dum nears its release on April 22nd, more drama is to unfold.
