World Cup winning Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni today joined the growing calls to award batting ace Sachin Tendulkar the Bharat Ratna, saying no cricketer deserves it more than him.

"Yes, 200 per cent, because he is an ideal candidate, he has served the country for 21 years with a few more to come. As a cricketer, you know, if he doesn't get it, then I don't think there's anyone who'll get the Bharat Ratna ever," Dhoni said.

"I think he's done really great things for the country, taking cricket to the next level. He's known even in places where they don't know about the game, so I think it's a very big achievement taking the country forward. He's done remarkably," the Chennai Super Kings skipper said at a press meet to kickstart the IPL's fourth season, starting on Friday.

The Dhoni-led CSK , which won the double of the IPL and Champions League title last season, open their season with a home game against a Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar who is basking in joy with World Cup victory has invited Bollywood top-notch couple, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan to join in the celebration of the memorable victory. Sachin Tendulkar has thrown a grand bash to mark the win and invited Ash-Abhi.

Revealing the news, Amitabh Bachchan tweets, “Abhishek and Aishwarya been invited by Sachin for a celebration ..guess I shall have to wait till the morning for the excitement!”

After the win, Big B along with his son and daughter-in-law went out in the street and joined in the celebration with their fans. While Big B drove the car, Ash and Abhi danced all the way out on the roof top of the car, shouting and waving the flag of India.

Apart from Ash and Abhi who else in Sachin’s guests list is yet to be known.

Congrats to Sachin and his team! What a great achievement, Waoh!

Women and cricket is the hot debate, so who’s winning and who’s whining?

Mandira Bedi’s noodle-straps are now part of official cricketing folklore, but also for reasons unconnected (no pun intended) to the accompanying controversy. I remember sitting with a group of friends when the wardrobe malfunction happened on live TV and it turned out to be a case of wardrobe male-function. It appeared that none of the males present had even heard of noodle-straps and their use, or misuse. Sure, we had all seen them (barely) on fashionistas and social fireflies but like a lot of garments and accessories worn by women these days, it is prudent to let their nomenclature and usage remain an unfathomable mystery. Mandira’s sartorial choice was, in that context, a revelation for us men who till then had only equated noodles with Chinese takeaway.

It was actually more than that. Cricketing purists and pundits are still grinding their teeth, but it was a transformational even historic moment in the gentleman’s game; mainly because gentlemen were no longer its sole custodians. Here, for the first time, women had breached what was a cozy, exclusive male club and cricket and the commentary box would never be the same. From the 2003 World Cup where Ms Bedi made her contentious debut, to its 2011 version, we’ve come a long way, baby. Make that baby bulge. Not only is she back, all aglow in the first flush of pregnancy, but so are the host of other women, from TV studios to the media centre and spectators, who have literally added an extra innings to the sport.

"Saturday April 2, 1983, was the day Kapil Dev brought the first World Cup for India. Insha Allah, Saturday April 2, 2011, is going to be (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni's day. Pakistan is out of the World Cup, so all my loyalties are now with India." That's the new cricket commentator Veena Malik for you.

The irrepressible shock queen is in India to be part of two cricket shows on television. "Some people compare me to Mandira Bedi. But I am happy being who I am. I love cricket, though commenting on it is not something I thought I would do. But life is such. You never know where it takes you," she said.

Veena does have her favourites among the cricketers from both sides. "Yuvraj (Singh) and (Shahid) Afridi both play from the heart and believe in playing fair cricket. No one can buy their loyalties. I'm a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar, but only when he isn't playing against Pakistan," she chuckles.

Amitabh Bachchan believes that if he watches a cricket match, India will lose. But he not only sat in front of the TV to see the India-Sri Lanka World Cup final here Saturday, also hit the road in open car to celebrate with others when the home team won.

"Me superstitious about watching match coz' we lose... but after 33 for 2 (sic), don't know why, sat in front of TV till the six from (M.S.) Dhoni," he tweeted after India's six wicket victory at the Wankhede Stadium.

"Diya ghuma ke, ghuma ke, ghuma ke!!," he wrote, very excited.

The 68-year-old says he hadn't previously witnessed the kind of euphoria in the city that followed India's victory.

"No one is saying anything...just screaming!! It is bizarre!!! Roads lanes everywhere jammed with people and screams!! Never before!"

"Anhonee ko hooni kar de, honi ko anhonee ! Ek jagah jab jama hon tinoh - Rajni, Gajni aur Dhoni!!!" he tweeted.

The megastar's excitment was evident from the fact that he was simultaneoulsy updating his Twitter page and his blog.

"We won ! We are the World Champions! Yeeeehhhhh!!," he posted on his blog.

Amitabh, too, joined the jubilant crowds with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

"It is madness outside!! Abhishek, Aishwarya and me on top of the roof of a car, waving tricolor and just screaming!! Hundreds with us."

"We are the world!! Just back from...sitting on top of the roof, waving the tricolor and just screaming!!"

Now that India has won the World Cup, netizens are keen to know where is model Poonam Pandey and if she would actually run naked as promised.

‘Did anyone see Poonam Pandey,’ asked financial analyst Mukesh Jagota on Facebook.

Much before India won, amateur filmmaker Sanjib Kumar Roy had posted: I don’t promise to anything wild ..if India wins…but surely shall look for Poonam Panday online……. : ) Now Team India must win…pls win the match for us….

‘some body tell me where is POONAM PANDEY . . .BTW . .CONGRATS EVERYBODY,’ was his status message after Indian had sealed its victory.

‘ASK HER FATHER…’ replied his friend Govindan Saravanan, a reference to the model’s assertion that her family supported her decision.

However, Poonam made no mention of her promise on her Twitter page.
