Winning an academy award is a life changing moment for the fortunate ones who get to lay their hands on the coveted statuette but rocking the red carpet on Hollywood's biggest night has become almost as important as winning the award.

The celebs brought their A game on Oscar night with a teeny bit of help from their highly paid stylists. Some got their looks were perfectly right and had fashion critics drooling while some missed the mark with the same critics frothing at the mouth.

Angelina Jolie was the cynosure of all eyes. She showed up in her gorgeous Atelier Versace gown with a mile-high slit and flaunted the best accessory of all - Brad Pitt.

Michelle Williams may have lost out on the Oscar win but she looked pretty as a picture and stole a zillion hearts in her daring coral gown by Louis Vuitton.

Gwyneth Paltrow in her stunning white Tom Ford gown with a flamboyant cape also gets a thumbs up as does Cameron Diaz who went nude in a delectable Gucci number.

George Clooney may not have won but he was still the envy of all present as his beau, Stacy Kiebler rocked in a metallic Marchesa gown.

Other honorable mentions are Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera, Penelope Cruz in Giorgio Armani, and Natalie Portman in vintage Dior.

The fashion debacles were fewer.

Meryl Streep romped home with a win but fashion critics were not too thrilled with her fashion sense as it was felt that her shining Lanvin gown looked a little too blingy to be in good taste.

Jennifer Lopez generated heat but for all the wrong reasons in her Zuhair Murad gown which was considered a little trashy now that she is a mommy and all.

Emma Stone's Giambattista Valli gown got mixed reactions with some critics not too enthused about the dramatic bow while others hailed her for the daring choice.

The jury is still out on that one.

Andrew Garfield will soon light up the big screen as "The Amazing Spider-Man" and the 27-year-old actor said stepping into the shoes of his childhood hero means an incredible deal to him -- so much so that the attention he's already receiving for the role makes him feel "overwhelmed and scared."

"I don't take it lightly. I wish I could, but I don't," Andrew mentioned about playing the beloved web-slinger. "This character's meant so much to me since I was 2 years old when I had my first Halloween and I wore my first Spider-Man costume.

"Ever since I saw him in the comics through New York City, I was mesmerized," he continued. "And he's affected my life in every different period I've gone through."

The former "The Social Network" star said he became immediately aware of the gravity of the role as he donned Spider-Man's iconic red and blue suit for the first time.

"As soon as I put on the suit for the camera test in this movie, I felt that weight -- but much like I feel Peter Parker feels it too," he told Scott, recalling the famous line from 2002's "Spider-Man" (starring Tobey Maguire), "With great power comes great responsibility." "I just felt like that was part and parcel of the job.

"Let me just put it this way," Andrew explained. "It was much more fun watching Tobey do it than it was doing it myself!"

The charming actor is acutely aware that he's not the only fan who has been inspired by the superhero for most of his young life, and said he worked tirelessly to explore all aspects of the "fascinating" character, especially Spider-Man's physicality, so as not to disappoint his fellow comic book fans.

"I'm so exited to be assuming this symbol that is more than me, more than you -- it's everybody's, and I feel so lucky and privileged to be able to explore what that is. I wanted to make something very authentic, imagining what it would be like to have spider DNA in your body," concluded Garfield.

Catch Andrew, along with Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Denis Leary, when "The Amazing Spider-Man" hits theaters in July 2012.

A day after "The Amazing Spider-Man" teaser trailer leaked, Sony Pictures has released the official version online. Containing exactly the same footage seen in the bootleg version, it gives a better look at Peter Parker as a little boy and his parents, who left him with Aunt May and Uncle Ben.

The preview shares scenes showing a teen Peter having dinner with Gwen Stacy's family and sews what looks like his Spider-Man costume.

While Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy showed Peter as a nerd, The Amazing Spiderman depicts him more like an outsider.

Talking about this reinvention, the director Marc Webb had explained, "What was important in those early comics was this notion that Peter Parker is an outsider and how we define that in a contemporary context. That, I think, was one of the challenges for us - getting Peter Parker's outsider status to be current."

Playing the titular character is Andrew Garfield with Emma Stone starring opposite him as Peter's love interest Gwen, and Rhys Ifans taking the role of Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard. The movie is set to arrive in theaters across the nation on July 3, 2012.

"Amazing Spider-Man" will take part at this year's San Diego Comic Con when Sony holds a panel for its upcoming releases on Friday, July 22.

In another promotional effort, an official poster for the movie has been displayed at the side of the Hard Rock Hotel, featuring the Spider-Man logo on his costume.
