Singer-actress Demi Lovato has split from 'That 70s Show' actor Wilmer Valderrama after a brief courtship.
The 18-year-old, who has been dating Valderrama, 31, since January, called off the relationship and blamed the couple's 13-year age gap as the reason behind the split.
"The age difference meant they were in completely different places in their lives," said a source.
Besides the break-up, the troubled teen was admitted to rehab last November to receive treatment for "emotional and physical issues".
Currently her mother Dianna Hart de la Garza is getting treatment for her own issues at an undisclosed location.
"It has been a tough year for Demi, and her mom has been a constant source of support. But fame has also taken its toll on her family. Now that Demi is strong again, her mom could take some time to deal with her own issues," added the source.
Lovato recently discovered she suffered from bipolar disorder.
