Playing a teenage school boy has never been an easy task for any of the actors in the industry. While most actors would take this up with the help of a VFX team, a few actors prove their versatality without any special effects.

Actor Dhanush has enacted the role of a school boy before in films like 'Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002)' and 'Kaadhal Konden (2003)' that were shot during his early days. He proved himself of his versatality again, playing a school going kid in the recently released psychological thriller '3 (2012)' with Shruti Haasan in the lead.

As reported earlier, the multi-talented actor is making his Bollywood debut with the Anand L. Rai directed 'Raanjhnaa' co-starring fashionista Sonam Kapoor as his heroine.

The shooting of the film is progressing at a brisk pace and from the recently released pictures from the shooting spot, it has been confirmed that Dhanush is playing a school boy again.

Supporting this, the film’s director Anand Rai said that the crowd could identify neither of the stars sporting a school uniform. Although one would admit that both the actors look younger their age, it arouses an inevitable question if the film is the Hindi remake of Dhanush's last release '3' directed by Aishwarya R. Dhanush.

While rumormongers were entertaining our followers with their rumors, Celebs Factory confirmed with director Anand L. Rai about these speculations that is now ablaze on micro-blogging and social networking websites.

A professional of a film maker that Anand Rai is, was quick to act against these rumors and took it to Twitter to clarify that his film 'Raanjhanna' would be an original. Thus putting an end to all the baseless rumors and media speculations to rest.

                                                                            -   Yash Chopra

His 50 golden years in direction saw films like Dhool Ka Phool, Waqt, Daag, Deewaar, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara and many other movies.

Isai is going to be a musical but will have some interesting twists and turns in the second half, Suryah promised. Newcomer, Savithri is the heroine.

One of the reasons for the buzz around the film is that S.J Suryah himself is composing the music for the film following the advice of A.R Rahman, who told Suryah that he had what it took to be a music composer. So after Isai is wrapped up, Suryah will try to prove his versatility with Puli.

After Puli, Suryah said that he will be doing another film in Tamil titled 'Ezhumalai/chitra'. He will play the lead role in this one too.

Deepika Padukone was last seen performing a classical dance in her debut film Om Shanthi Om. After that, the gorgeous dame has performed a classical dance along with Superstar Rajinikanth for Soundarya Rajinikanth's directorial debut 'Kochadaiyaan'.

The pretty Bollywood girl, who could not attend the London schedule did her part for 'Kochadaiyaan' in the recently held Trivandrum schedule. A complete profession that Deepika Padukone is, impressed the film's crew by completing the song shoot in just two days.

“Yes, the song shoot was for a beautiful classical song composed by A.R Rahman. Deepika and Rajinikanth rehearsed for three days before shooting the dance sequence and it has come out extremely well,” said dance choreographer Saroj Khan when quizzed about the dance sequence.

S.J Suryah, who is best known for making films like Vaali and Kushi shot to fame with his acting debut opposite Simran in 'New' (2004). The film directed and produced by S.J Suryah can be recalled for all its censhorship issues due to its sensuous content.

The buzz in the industry is that S.J Suryah, who was last seen onscreen in 'Nanban' is getting back into direction since his last venture 'Anbe Aaruyire' (2005) that featured himself and Meera Chopra AKA Nila. He will be launching his new film 'Isai' either on May 9th or on the 15th.

The USP of  S.J Suryah's upcoming film titled 'Isai' is this that he is not only going to produce, direct and act in the film but will be also composing the  music for the film as requested by Academy Award Winner A.R Rahman, who was initially approached to compose for the film. It was reported that the maestro was awestruck with Suryah's musical talent and recommended trying his hand on composing for the film.

Mani Ratnam’s Kadal is progressing well and actors are beaming about the scenic beauty of the location, Manapad, the sea village in Thoothukudi.

Isai Puyal Rahman is scoring the music for the film and the musician has shared a rare picture, featuring him along with the ace director Mani Ratnam. AR Rahman has updated about the picture, “While brainstorming with Mani Ratnam in the middle of the sea, down in the south of India.”

In the same manner actor Arvind Swamy who is also part of the cast has updated, “On location for Kadal…the sea looks beautiful.”  Hope the magic of Roja continues in Kadal too as it marks the coming together of Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman and Arvind Swamy.

The film’s shooting started on March 5 and has Gautham, son of Karthik and actress Samantha in the lead. The film also has Lakshmi Manchu, veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu’s daughter, who is making her Tamil debut. Arjun and Thambi Ramiah are also part of the cast.

Gautham Menon's Ek Deewana Tha has turned out as something very unique because the director has revealed that the film will be released with two very different climaxes.

It may be recalled that Gautham Menon's Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya and Ye Maaya Chesave, the original Tamil and Telugu versions respectively had two different endings.

In VTV, STR and Trisha part ways whereas in the Telugu version the lovers Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are united. Since both were very successful, it was wondered what the ending could be for its Hindi version.

Gautham has decided to go with a popular version and a director's cut which will be played in elite screens. Theatre listings will reveal which ending will be played and the ticket - buying audience can choose accordingly.

Now that the heroine for Isai has been finalized, the shooting should start rolling anytime soon.

It may be mentioned here that S.J Suryah’s last directorial venture in Tamil film was Anbe Aaruyire in 2005 and he was last seen in the recently-released Nanban in a cameo.

Music maestro A.R. Rahman has added another prestigious trophy to his shelf -- the public choice award for "If I Rise" from "127 Hours" at the World Soundtrack Awards 2011 at Ghent, Belgium.

"Thanks to my fans and the World Soundtrack Academy for the Public Choice award for the score of '127 Hours'," posted Rahman on his Facebook page.

The World Soundtrack Academy Saturday announced the 2011 winners at the closing of the 38th Ghent International Film Festival.

The two-time Oscar winner was competing in the best original song written directly for the same track category, but lost out to Randy Newman, who took home the trophy for "We belong together" from "Toy Story 3".

"127 Hours", directed by Danny Boyle, was based on mountaineer Aron Ralston and his real life story about how he chopped his hand to save himself after a boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.

The audio and trailer launch of Aravaan took place at the Anna Centenary Library Auditorium in Chennai. The audio was released by Oscar winner A R Rahman and director Mani Ratnam.

There are a lot of speculations regarding Vijay's role in Gautham Menon's film.

Vijay and Gautham have been playing with their cards close to the chest and are unwilling to reveal any details though official word on the project is expected soon, if only to put a rest to the rumors.

"Vijay will play a law enforcement official or a sexy secret agent like James Bond in 'Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru'. He is very pleased with Gowtham's script and is very enthusiastic about his role," reported sources associated with the project.

Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru is going to be a stylish action flick like Gautham Menon's Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.

The Indian epic Ramayana, which narrates the story of Lord Rama, will be soon made into a Bollywood-style animated musical adventure by Hollywood director Kevin Lima. This animation musical is titled Monkeys of Mumbai. Oscar winning musician A.R. Rahman will compose music for this film, which will be produced by DreamWorks Animation.

Lima, director of A Goofy Movie, Tarzan, 102 Dalmatians and Enchanted, will narrate the story of Ramayana through the point of view of two common monkeys. Gurinder Chadha and Paul Berges, who collaborated on Bend It Like Beckham, will pen the story of Monkeys of Mumbai.

After rumours about the Academy planning to sue him for $50,000 million, Ismail Darbar, who had accused AR Rahman of having bought the Oscar awards, says he is ready to apologise.

The musician had indicted Rahman, who received two Oscars in 2008 Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his music in Slumdog Millionaire, of having paid for them.

Following this, there was scuttlebutt that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences might sue him for insinuating that the awards can be bought.

Darbar now says he has nothing against the Oscars and that he just wanted to warn his 'friend' Rahman for churning out inferior quality music since last one year.

Darbar says, "I am grateful that I have been respected in the industry for my work. I did say some things about Rahman, because as a friend I want to jolt him out of his reverie and start giving good music. I chose a public platform to do it, because he wouldn't listen to me otherwise. I have nothing against the Oscars. It is the most respected award, the whole world acknowledges it, and I do, too. If any of them (Academy) are hurt by my comments, I apologise to them."

Darbar says he is not saying this out of fear of anyone, but God.

"I am not scared. The truth is, I realise that those people who respected me for my work, might misunderstand me and think I am baddimaag (arrogant person). Also, the fact is, I can have nothing against the Oscar panel or those behind the awards. My issue was with Rahman and I guess he's got the message by now," he said.

Bollywood music director Ismail Durbar has claimed that AR Rahman had bought the Oscar Award by paying for it. This had stirred the hornet’s nest with several people in the film industry alleging that Durbar is making such statements for some cheap publicity.

On the other hand, AR Rahman has said that there is certainly no money involved in the Oscar Awards. He added that the coveted award is given with the consensus of about 3000 people and it is impossible to buy it.

The film fraternity has appealed to Durbar to refrain from making such comments. They added that every Indian should be proud that AR Rahman had achieved this feat by sheer hard work and hence should not doubt its veracity.

The Upendra-Catherine-Soundarya starrer Godfather is briskly underway. The film, which is already the talk of the town, has A R Rahman composing his original tunes for the first time in Kannada. And this he’s doing for a whopping amount of Rs 1.5 crore, which is said to be half of what he charges for Tamil films.

“Rahman, who has had early associations with Sandalwood as a keyboardist, was coaxed to sign this project by long time associate and friend PC Sreeram. The Chennai-based cinematographer has previously worked with him in the Tamil original Varalaaru and also in films like Maymadham and Alai Payuthey. He convinced Rahman,” says a source close to the unit.

Producer K Manju doesn’t deny the fact either. “Yes, the figures are in three digits, I wouldn’t like to disclose the exact amount, but having him as part of my film is worth it all. I’m going to ensure that this film rocks the Kannada film industry as far as the music is concerned,” says he.

Manju, quite excitedly, also talks about the plans for the soundtrack. “We’re going to have the best lyricists in the state writing the seven songs in the soundtrack. These will include directors Prem and Yogaraj Bhat, music director-lyricists Hamsalekha and K Kalyan, lyricist Kaviraj and one song will be written by Upendra himself.”

Quiz him on whether Upendra, whose current song from Jogaiah has become such a huge hit, will sing any number, and he says, “I am not sure about that, we haven’t thought about it. But, what I have requested Rahman is to lend his voice to one of the tracks in the film. I’m hoping he agrees to that.”

Lead actor Upendra has said that he’s keen in seeing how the Oscar-winning music director composes the soundtrack and has even expressed that he will be closely involved with that. Looks like this soundtrack is going to be something to watch out for!

AR Rahman has said that he is happy to work with the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. The musician said that he is humbled by the faith that the director has in him. Speaking about the offer he had bagged, AR Rahman had said, “I am very excited to work with Yashji and I am humbled by his faith in me for his film. I have seen that Yashji always portrays music as the inevitable essence of love and divinity in his movies. I hope, as a team, we can bring tremendous joy to all.”

Yash Chopra had also confirmed his association with AR Rahman and said that Shah Rukh Khan will play the lead role. He said the SRK is like a family member to him. The film will go on floors once Aditya Chopra finalizes the script. Yashji also confirmed that there will be two heroines in the film and they will be finalized shortly.
