Nineteen-year-old American actress-singer Selena Gomez, who is now focussing on a music career, has launched her new album and says that in the long run she would take acting as a full-fledged career.
"It's been two-and-a-half to three years that I have been acting and singing. However, I feel most likely in terms of a longer career span, it would be acting," Gomez told IANS in an email interview from Texas.
She began her acting career at the age of seven, with I--Barney & Friends and recently featured in movies like Ramona and Beezus and Monte Carlo.
Best known for portraying Alex Russo in the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez is the lead singer and founder of the pop band Selena Gomez & the Scene, which has released Kiss & Tell and A Year Without Rain.
Talking about her new album When The Sun Goes Down, Selena said that "the music in the album is kind of a way to express that it's really fun. Who Says is a powerful song and I love that my fans can have that to listen to. There are songs like My Dilemma, Bang Bang Bang, and Love You Like A Love Song.
When quizzed about her much-publicized relationship with teen pop icon Justin Bieber, Selena said: "I'd say it's nice to have someone who knows what you're going through."
From Akon to Bryan Adams, several international artists have been coming to India to perform and now Gomez is also keen to do so. She says she would also love to work with Indian artistes.
"I don't know a lot about India. I know many artists are performing there and I would like to visit India, may be some time in future as and when the opportunity comes my way. I would also like to collaborate with some Indian artistes at a later stage," said the singer.
Teen sensation Justin Bieber has added another feather to his hat - he has acquired 11 million followers on Twitter.
The 17-year-old singer, who reached the milestone on Wednesday, has become the second star to touch the mark after
pop diva Lady Gaga, reported Contactmusic.
Following the news, the Canadian star took to Twitter to thank his 'Beliebers'.

it is even better. THANK U THANK U THANK U (sic)" wrote Bieber on Twitter.
The new feat makes the 'Baby' hitmaker the second most popular celebrity on Twitter, with Lady Gaga on top with over
11.5 million people following her.
Other well known faces in the top ten include US President Barack Obama, reality TV star Kim Kardashian and pop star Britney Spears.
Singer-actress Selena Gomez has given up surfing the internet after receiving nasty online comments from fans jealous of her romance with singer Justin Bieber.
Gomez, 18, and Bieber, 17, went public with their relationship this year. But the revelation infuriated some of the "Baby" hitmaker's fans, who targeted Gomez online. "It's weird, it's just weird, but I don't pay attention to it, I just try to live my life as normal as possible. I just like to not focus on what the whole world is saying about me and just be happy with myself," contactmusic quoted Gomez as saying.
"I try to not read magazines or the internet but it's obviously unavoidable. I mean, it's everywhere, so there are moments where I read things that hurt my feelings But not most of the time. I don't surround my life with magazines or the internet," she added.
