Post pregnancy, Lara Dutta has finally signed her first film and shall start shooting August onwards.

Lara Dutta recently claimed that she would not be returning to Bollywood anytime soon.

"I am looking at films and scripts. But I am not going to be back on the sets for at least the next couple of months because I want to make sure that my baby is secure. Only then I'll be back," said the model turned actor who delivered a baby girl in January this year.

The sexy looking wife of Mahesh Bhupathi and the mother of his child has now put an end to her self-imposed exile from the film industry signing Bejoy Nambiar's film 'David'.

Apparently Lara will start shooting for the film from August.

Not much is known about Lara's character other than the fact that David has an ensemble cast of Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tabu, Vikram, Monica Dogra and others.

What's common between Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone and Anushka? Well, besides the fact that they are super famous and powerful, they all hail from Karnataka.

With their stupendous success in movies, Sandalwood certainly seems to have lost out on cashing in on their charm and popularity. Here are a few well known stars whose names are synonymous with beauty and popularity

Aishwarya Rai:This dancer-turned-model with the most attractive eyes hails from Mangalore. She debuted in Mani Ratnam's Tamil biopic Iruvarand did a couple of Tamil and Hindi movies that were not much to talk about. However, her performance in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanamestablished her as a good actress and she was flooded with offers from Bollywood. Her marriage into the Bachchan Khandaanonly enhanced her star power. Sandalwood's dream of getting her to feature in a Kannada movie still remains a distant dream.

Anushka sharma:Another Bangalore beauty who completed her education in Bangalore. However, her modelling career took her to Mumbai and after she bagged the role in Shah Rukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she's been on a roll. Her popularity has grown by the day and looks like she too will join the list of others who made a quiet exit from Bangalore and will always remain elusive to Sandalwood.

Anushka Shetty:This Mangalore-born bunt beauty like others did her schooling and college in Bangalore. However, her entry to tinsel town was with a Telugu movie. The rest, like they say was history. With her mind blowing performances in movies like Arundhati, she's now become the queen of Tollywood. No talk of her doing any Kannada movies yet.

Deepika Padukone:This long legged Konkani lass is the most sought-after actress in the film industry. Deepika did her schooling and college in Bangalore and started modelling when she bagged her first movie. Even though her debut was in Kannada with Upendra's Aishwarya, she has always been considered a hot Bollywood babe. Deepika too hasn't had the time to look back since then. It's Hindi movie all the way for this Bangalore chick! Her only connection to Bangalore right now is her link-up with the liquor Baron's son Sidhartha Mallya.

Lara Dutta:Nobody expected this Bangalore-bred former Miss Universe would enter films. However, even after her debut with a Tamil film Arasatchi, Sandalwood gave her a royal ignore. Post that, Lara starred in many Hindi movies that went on to become a hit. And now, with her expecting a child with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, it isn't likely that she will act in movies any time soon. Hard luck again!

A pregnant Lara Dutta stepped out with hubby Mahesh Bhupathi to attend the grand bash hosted by Akshay Kumar to celebrate the release of his production Speedy Singhs.

Lara didn't shy away, instead she flaunted her baby bump in a blue-coloured, figure-hugging Hervé Léger skirt. The white top and a snazzy clutch gave the expectant mom a chic look.

Apart from Lara, Aishwarya Rai is also expecting a baby presently. She was recently seen visiting the Siddhivinayak Temple to offer prayers.

So what if Lara Dutta is pregnant? The model-turned actress does know how to stay fit during this period and advises all the mothers-to-be to take care of themselves while exercising.

"Super session in the gym! Feels good 2 work out even now!:-) All mommies 2 b, continue 2 exercise SAFELY thru ur pregnancy with proper guidance," posted Lara on her Twitter page.

The 33-year-old married ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi in February this year and is looking radiant and ravishing in all the public appearances she has made recently.

So, another yummy-mummy in the making.

Just weeks after announcing her pregnancy, Lara Dutta made her first public appearance. The actress was the cynosure of all esyes as she walked the ramp at the India International Jewellery Week in Mumbai on Thursday.

Post the event, she tweeted saying, "Mommy and Jr just took their 1st stroll down the ramp together at the India International Jewellery Week! :-)"

The 33-year-old diva walked the ramp for designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock While the would-be-mom looked stunning in a peach colored lehenga, her three-month baby bump was quite visible.

Lara and her tennis player hubby Mahesh Bhupathi are reportedly expecting their first child in January next year.

Ater Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, it's Lara Dutta who is expecting her first child and dad-to-be Abhishek Bachchan was the first to wish her on Twitter, saying "welcome aboard".

"Thank you so much for all ur wishes and prayers. It's an awesome time in life right now and Mahesh and I are both very excited about the baby!," tweeted Lara, who tied the knot with ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupati in February this year.

In return, Abhishek congratulated her and posted: "Paaji! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! welcome aboard."

The 33-year-old actress tweeted back saying, "Thank you so much ab! You'll be sorted by the time our turn comes, will call for tips!!"

Earlier in June, Aishwarya and Abhishek confirmed they are expecting their first baby.

Lara is fondly known as "Lara paaji" in Bollywood and Abhishek and Lara have worked together in two movies - "Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost" and "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom".

What’s so great about donning a bikini? Zareen Khan perhaps thinks so and is in no mood to flaunt a bikini as she feels she doesn’t have a perfect body.

Why so, Zareen? We loved you in the song Character Dheela and you looked so fit and fab. The Veer beauty has trashed the rumours that she will be sporting a bikini in the Housefull sequel. In the first part, the three actresses, whether it was Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta or Jia Khan, all sported a two-piece. Thus speculations were rife that Zareen will also slip into a bikini for the sequel.

“There is no bikini scene in the film and moreover I haven’t got a body for it,” confirms the actress, who was even called Fatrina (a fatter version of Katrina Kaif) during her Veer days.

Then why gym-shym, Zareen? Isn’t she working hard on her body for Housefull 2? The actress says it is because her character needs to look glamorous, and also she wants to be at par with the other heroines. Aha...competition!

Housefull 2 also stars Asin, along with Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh.

I plead guilty of saying that I would not make a Don sequel, but somehow the character just wouldn’t leave me. Now, in retrospect, I’m glad I’ve made Don 2,” admits producer-director Farhan Akhtar, who is gearing up for the response to the first trailer of one of this year’s most eagerly awaited films that unveils in theatres this Friday, along with the Farhan-starrer, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Farhan’s partner and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani endorses the fact that despite an open ending, the duo had not thought of taking the story forward when Don—The Chase Begins (2006) ended. He says, “But then Ameet (Mehta) and Amrish (Shah) came to us with an interesting story idea. It took us a while to develop it, but finally, last October, we flagged off Don 2, and on December 23, as Shah Rukh (Khan) says in the promos, the don will return to the screen after five years.”

Ritesh agrees that expectations are sky high, but is confident that the high-speed action sequences, the special effects and the familiar characters in a new European setting, will spark off an ‘Oh my God, this is huge!’ reaction from the audience, from children in particular, who, he admits, is Don’s biggest fan base. “It surprised me that my own kids had taken such a fancy to a bad guy till I realised that the eternal favourite, Tom & Jerry, is a violent cartoon too.”

The filmmakers adds that apart from two new characters, enacted by Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor, the others played by SRK, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Om Puri, are the same from Part 1 and continue from where they had left. Ritesh says, “So Roma knows that the good Vijay is dead, Don has survived and sets out to even the score,” he says. “That twist at the end of Part 1 was what made it different from Mr Bachchan’s (Amitabh) Don. This one is completely new and original with no reference points but you would have to see Don —The Chase Begins to understand what’s happening. Don is on its way to becoming a franchise now. This time if you were to ask me about a Part 3, I wouldn’t say no.”

Moving onto the production of Housefull 2, sequel to Housefull which has already begun and the filmmakers have opted out for London as their first stop.

While things are running smoothing, not everything is going to plan as accordingly to reports, director Sajid Khan is having a difficult time in persuading his heroines, Asin Thottumkal and Zarine Khan into wearing a bikini.

Sajid wants to incorporate the same sort of glamorous look he did with the original Housefull, where his leading ladies, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan were seen dancing around in hot bikini’s.

But unfortunately, Asin and Zarine are just not comfortable in wearing one, and we don’t blame them, they certainly don’t match up to the likes of Sajid’s previous actresses. Though Zarine is said to have lost weight, we don’t think she could pull off a bikini just yet, and as for Asin she has clearly gained weight in the movie Ready.

On the other hand, heroine number three, Jacqueline Fernandez has given her director the green light and has absolutely no qualms about wearing a bikini. No surprises there!

We’re guessing Sajid never mentioned the bikini look with Asin and Zarine before they signed on the dotted line. Anyhow, the two stars have come across very confident about what they believe; they’re not called Salman Khan’s leading ladies for no reason.

Do you think Asin and Zarine are being unreasonable? Or are they doing the right thing?

We all know that Bollywood hottie Lara Dutta married her long time boy friend Mahesh Bhupathi in February 2011. Our new “IT” couple planned to postpone their honeymoon plans due to work commitments.

Right after the nuptials, Lara got busy with “Don 2” shooting and her second yoga DVD. Mahesh also kept playing tennis matches one after the other not to mention winning them as well.

Also, they had their home production “Chalo Dilli” releasing this week and they got busy with the promotions and what not.

“Chalo Dilli” is finally set to hit screens this week and the couple plans to take the much needed time off from work. They have planned to go to their dream destination “Bali” for their honeymoon.

Have a nice time, Lara – Mahesh !!

So kicked was the team about the song that they managed to complete shooting for it within 15 hours flat. Yana Gupta too was so excited with the song that she rearranged her schedule and even shot for it while she was ill.

Says a production source, "The team shot for the song for a straight 15 whole hours without a break. Yana was down with high fever and was simultaneously shooting for "Jhalak" but she managed to work around her schedule and shot for the song." Talking about the song, director Shashant says, "Gaurav Dasgupta's composition was rustic, fresh and very innovative. Also, some songs are an instant hit, "Laila" has that quality to it. It is an excellent dance number with catchy lyrics and has a very interesting graph."

Produced by Krishika Lulla and Mahesh Bhupathi, " Chalo Dilli" comes to a theatre near you on April 29.

Lara Dutta is one busy lady these days. Barely two months into her marriage with tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi, the actress has stepped into the role of a producer with her upcoming film Chalo Dilli, starring Vinay Pathak and her.

In conversation with Sonil Dedhia, Lara talks about life after marriage, her maiden production venture and her hilarious co-star.

How is marriage treating you?

There are so many additional responsibilities. I am learning how to strike a balance between my professional and personal life.

Is it difficult to come to terms with being married?

Not at all. I have always embraced my responsibilities. Although there are a lot of things happening at the same time, I'm enjoying every moment.

Wasn't it a little too early to get into production? Was it a planned move?

Yes, it was. I'd always wanted to venture into production. I'm working on a couple of scripts now. Unfortunately, in this industry, it's alright for an actor to have a production house but if an actress has one, it's assumed that it's only because she is married and doesn't have any work to do, so she's making movies for herself.

If the train-catching sequence in the promo of Lara Dutta's debut production " Chalo Dilli" gives you a sense of deja vu, it was meant to be! The actress admits that she took inspiration from 1995 blockbuster " Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)".

"There is one scene in the film where I run to catch the train and Vinay's character Manu...he extends his hand to pull me onto the train. And, of course, we were inspired by DDLJ," said Lara.

The iconic scene from DDLJ featured Bollywood's most loved romantic couple Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. And now moviegoers will see Vinay and Lara reprising it in "Chalo Dilli", a comedy film.

Lara, however, rules out there was ever an intent to outdo the chemistry of the original scene.

"In no way are we ever going to compete with a film like DDLJ. It's just that when somethings inspire you, you try and give an ode to them. So that scene is inspired by DDLJ, yet it is quite unique in its own," she added.

The trailer of the movie was released alongside Abhinay Deo's "Game".

A tribute from one national beauty pageant winner to another, the gorgeous Lara Dutta is very excited about the item song 'Laila O Laila', an iconic Zeenat Aman song, that will be seen in Lara's first ever home production Chalo Dilli. The song will bring the famous item girl, Yana Gupta.

Yana is ready to wow audiences with her performance on the cult Zeenat Aman song 'Laila O Laila'. Keeping close to the original composition, Lara Dutta who is a big Zeenat Aman fan wanted to pay homage to her idol and decided to shoot an item song starring the scintillating Yana.

Says a source "Both Lara and Zeenat have been Miss Indias. Lara has always idolized Zeenat Aman and wanted to in some way represent her in her first home production - that's when she decided to base an item song on the cult hit 'Laila O Laila'."

If sources are to be believed, the song is one to watch out for and is very rustic yet exotic in its format.

"Lara is very excited to show the song to Zeenat Aman and have her feedback on it," adds the source.

Says producer Krishika Lulla, "We are all very excited about the song 'Laila O Laila' which is a desi rendition of the original. We've received great feedback for it and hopefully audiences should love it just as much"

An entertaining, slice of life film that will have you laughing off your seats, Chalo Dilli directed by Shashant Shah (of Dasvidaniya fame) is a journey which along with the two protagonists showcases the real India and its colourful and funny people with their eccentricities.

Produced by Krishika Lulla and Mahesh Bhupathi, Chalo Dilli comes to a theatre near you on April 29.

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta was on top of the world with India's success in the cricket World Cup. But her husband, tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi's victory at the Miami Masters tournament gave her another reason to celebrate on Saturday night. "2 for 2!!! India is the world champion and @Maheshbhupathi and Leander Paes just won the Miami Open!! How happy am I!!!" Lara posted on her Twitter page.
The actress was at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai to cheer for the Indian cricket team, while Bhupathi was busy playing in the finals of the Miami Masters tennis tournament in Florida, US.

A day before the matches, Lara had posted: "Bumper Bonanza Saturday!! Husband in the Miami Open Finals!:-), will be cheering our Boys in Blue at the stadium!! Praying 4 a double win!"

No doubt, her prayers seem to have worked!

Actor Vinay Pathak, who has gained appreciable success with his offbeat films, is upset that his " Chalo Dilli" co-star Lara Dutta's potential has not been fully utilised by the industry.

"I am not a commercial celebrity. It's a fantastic opportunity for me to work with Lara. She is a fabulous actor, very underused in our industry. She has done some wonderful roles, but she is yet to be exploited," Vinay told.

"I am ecstatic about that fact that we came together to work on a story and a film that has given ample opportunity to both of us to indulge in what we know the best," he added.

But isn't it an odd pair on screen?

"It's a story of an odd couple that's why we have come together. The story requires such imagery and such characterisation, hence such actors," said Vinay, who is working for the second time with director Shahant Shah after his critically acclaimed " Dasvidaniya".

Produced by Eros International in association with Big Daddy Production, "Chalo Dilli" is set to hit the theatres April 29.
