Bollywood screenwriter Sachin Bhowmick died on Tuesday. He was 82. Among the last of his achievements was the creation of superhero Krissh. Last heard, he was working on the screenplay of its sequel which was to go on the floors in October.
Bhowmick started his writing career in 1958 with Mohan Segal’s Nargis. Working for over five decades, he was associated with films such as An Evening In Paris (1967), Aradhana (1969), Caravan (1971), Khel Khel Main (1975) Golmaal (1979), Karz (1980) Karan Arjun (1995), Koi Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006).
He worked with renowned Bollywood directors such as, J Om Prakash, Subhash Ghai, Rakesh Roshan, Nasir Hussain and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He also directed a film called Raja Rani in 1973 starring Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.
“It is a personal loss for me. Sachin was most interested in films, but was not a filmy person. He led me from Karz to Yuvvraaj,” Ghai said.
