In true band baaja baarat style, Bollywood couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza tied the knot today February 3rd 2012 according to Marathi traditions in the presence of Bollywood and political biggies.

The marriage came at the end of an eight-year-long courtship with Riteish (32) and Genelia (24) taking their vows around a sacred fire at the suburban Grand Hyatt hotel.

The groom, wearing a white sherwani and red 'feta' (turban), entered the hotel riding a white 'ghodi'. Genelia wore a red and gold lehenga designed by Ritu Kumar.

The 'baaraat' started from the grounds near Grand Hyatt. Amidst the singing and dancing, Riteish, with his face covered with a 'sehra' (flower veil), waved excitedly while sitting on the horse.

The actor's Congress minister father Vilasrao Deshmukh was dressed in a brown sherwani.

Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel, Subodh Kant Sahay, Sunil Tatkare and Johny Joseph were among the political figures present at the wedding.

B-town guests present included Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Sajid Khan, Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sajid Nadiadwala, Satish Shah, Asin, Jacky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani, Ramesh Taurani, Nishka and Neeta Lulla.

Riteish took to Twitter last night, saying, "Saw the Last sunset as a Bachelor."

And soon after the wedding, the actor took to Twitter to post a photo of him and Genelia, with the caption, "MR & MRS DESHMUKH".

The wedding capped three days of festivities that included sangeet, haldi, mehndi ceremonies and a traditional bachelorette party for Genelia. The reception will take place tomorrow at the same hotel.

Riteish and Genelia have been seeing each other since their Bollywood debut, 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' in 2003 but they chose to be secretive about it. They finally opened up about their relationship last year.

The couple will be seen romancing in their forthcoming film 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya' that will hit the theatres on February 24.

Celebs Factory's sources from Bollywood say that Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh have been requesting friends to keep their dates free from late January to early February free.

As reported earlier, It is news that the couple will tie the knot the on February 5th and they are expecting their celebrity friends to grace the occasion without fail.

Genelia and Riteish have kept their relationship a low-key affair despite rumors about it making to the press on and off.

The wedding is rumored to be a four day ceremony with replete Mehendi and Sangeet. An official announcement on the wedding from the couple is yet to come.

While Velayutham emerged as a winner in the Diwali race against the extravagant 7am Arivu, the cast and crew of Velayutham have reasons to celebrate.

However, one of the female leads of the movie Hansika is lying low and not partaking in celebrations, as it was happening.

What did Hansika, the young damsel had to say for this?

"Right now, I am focusing on my studies and my celebrations will start after my exams are over," said Hansika stating that she is currently too busy for celebrations preparing for her exams that are to be held in London,

The members of the Kannada Rakshana Vedike staged a protest yesterday stating that their organization is planning to celebrate the Karnataka Rajya Utsav for a month and in this period only Kannada films should be screened in the state.

The protestors were at the Radha Krishna Theatre that screened Vijay’s Velayutham and had the audiences watching the film move out and threatening the theatre authorities with dire consequences if the film was screened. They also tore up Vijay’s banners following which the shows were cancelled.

Kannada Rakshana Vedike’s member Praveen Shetty said that the protests will continue if other language films are screened in the state for the next one month.

7am Arivu and Velayutham collections for the first five days have been declared by trade sources.

It is reported that 7am Arivu grossed about 40.25 crores from October 25th and Velayutham has grossed over 40 crores from October 26th onwards.

Both Suriya and Vijay are excited over these figures because the competition is still neck to neck and looks like this competition will end in a draw.

Velayutham has Vijay, Hansika and Genelia in the lead while in 7aum Arivu it is Suriya and Shruti Haasan as the lead pair.

Kollywood saw a massive clash between two big movies that were released during Diwali. One was the much-hyped AR Murugadoss’s 7am Arivu and the other, Jeyam Raja’s Velayudham.

With two popular heroes of Kollywood — Suriya and Vijay — battling it out on this festive occasion, it was rather surprising to learn who actually won the hearts of the masses this time.

7aam Arivu, produced by Udayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Films, saw massive publicity that ran for nearly a month before its release. Expectations too were soaring high for this film as the director who gave a runaway hit like Ghajini (both in Hindi and Tamil) was expected to deliver triple the success for this one.

Adding to the hype was Suriya’s role as Bodhidharma (a Buddhist monk) and Shruti Haasan's debut in Tamil cinema.

On the other hand, Vijay’s Velayudham was promoted at a mediocre scale in and around Tamil Nadu. With Vijay playing the role of a super-hero for the first time in his career, this one too created a lot of buzz before its release.

However, post the release, Velayudham’s stupendous victory has come as a rather surprising one. With critics and audiences voting for Vijay’s super-hero flick over Suriya’s 7am Arivu, the results have proved to be a shocker.

What really turned the tables?

“Before the release of these two movies, it seemed clear that 7am Arivu would win over Velayudham. The film’s massive promotional activities, claiming it as ‘something unseen’, proved to be a wrong tactic, once the film was released. With a lot of commercial elements in the film and scripting errors, people were let down by the Suriya-Murugadoss’s combination,” reports the source.

As a matter of fact, Velayudham which was released in comparatively lesser number of theatres across the country, has raked in more than 7aam Arivu in the first week of its theatrical release.

“Velayudham was promoted as an out-and-out commercial entertainer and did surprise the audiences when it was released. Though it had lesser publicity compared to the former, it has proven to be the ultimate winner. And while both the movies enjoyed a massive opening, the rather critical reviews let 7am Arivu down,” adds the source.

For films that rely only on promotional activities, the clear win of Velayudham proves to be a resounding lesson.

Tamil superstar Ilayathalapathy Vijay has termed his upcoming release "Velayudham" a special film of his career.

Addressing thousands of his fans in Banglore on Saturday at the city's Poornima Theatre, where two trailers of the film were screened, Vijay said:

"Velayudham is a special film for me. I have acted in many films which have been filled with commercial elements.

"You have liked my films for their quality in picturisation of songs and fights. But Velayudham is one such film that is focused on a issue besides being packaged with lot of commercial elements."

"You have already given a thumbs up for the audio of the film. I hope you would like the film also," he said amid cheers.

Slated for a Diwali release, Velayutham is produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by M. Raja. The film also stars Genelia D'Souza and Hansika.

Vijay was in the city to inaugurate a store of Jos Alukkas Jewellery, of which he is the brand ambassador.

"I have come here many times, including the launch of the Kannada film Jogayya, which was my friend Shivaraj Kumar's hundredth film. I am very fond of my fans in Karnataka," said Vijay.

Velayudham is being released along with actor Surya's 7 Aam Arivu, helmed by Ghajini director Murugadoss. These two major Tamil films have to contend with a big competitor in the form of Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One, the costliest film to be ever made in the country.

Murugadoss had also directed the Hindi version of Ghajini with Aamir Khan in the lead, which had become a sensational hit. Now, the news is that Bollywood star Shah Rukh too is interested in working with the director.

It seems that Genelia D'Souza is one bride with a major case of cold feet.

Interestingly it's for her on-screen marriage to Abhay Deol in Ekta Kapoor's Rock The Shaadi (earlier titled Shaadi Of The dead). However, a source explains that the actress's fears are justified after the unprecedented events that followed her on-screen marriage to John Abraham in Force.

The pandit, who married Genelia and John in the film, alleged that he performed the actual wedding rituals by reciting proper mantras and so claimed that they were a legitimate married couple.

The Pandit reportedly came out with these claims when rumours of Genelia's marriage to her beau Riteish Deshmukh surfaced.

What we hear now is that of Navdeep Singh's directorial venture, Rock The Shaadi, Which would have Genelia shooting 60-70 percent of the film in and around the shaadi mandap.

"Genelia was concerned with the wedding scene in Ekta's film after what happened with the similar scene shot for Force. Ekta is taking extra precautions around the sets to avoid any such mishaps like the last time. She had asked the priest to give it in writing that he will not talk to the media or click any picture nor take any footage. Only after Genelia was assured that this time there would be no controversy did she agree to sign the film. The producer doesn't want Genelia to go through any embarrassment." said the source.

When contacted, the official spokesperson of Rock The Shaadi said, "It's a fun film, revolving around a Punjabi wedding. Given the past controversy, we wanted to be extra careful."

Veena Malik has just made her Bollywood debut in a sizzling item number.

The 27-year-old Pakistani actor, who shot to fame with reality TV show Bigg Boss, will be seen in the song Main To Teri Fan Ho Gayi, in Riteish Deshmukh- Genelia D’Souza starrer Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.

“Honestly, I had a few offers for item numbers. But I wanted to pick the best one. This song is extremely spicy, so it goes perfectly with my personality ... at least I feel that way. When Kumarji (producer Kumar Taurani) made me hear the song, I said yes instantly. I hope it’s the right decision,” says Malik.

Veena hopes that her home industry takes a cue from Bollywood and opens doors for better opportunities. “There’s no concept of item numbers in Pakistan. And, there’re hardly any films being made there at the moment. Hope that changes soon,” she said.

The film, directed by debutant Mandeep Kumar, will hit theatres next year.

Actress Genelia D'Souza, who is known for playing the bubbly, vivacious college girl in most of her films, says she seems to own that spot in Bollywood.

According to her, she is being offered such roles more than other actresses.

"I seem to own the spot of the college girl in Bollywood. Down south, I have been given strong issue based roles. But here I don't get one", said Genelia.

The actress added that she will be playing a mature role in her upcoming film Force opposite John Abraham this time.

The latest on Ajith's next is that he has given bulk dates to producer A M Rathnam and his Sri Surya Movies.

So after wrapping up Billa 2, Ajith shall soon begin work on a film for Sri Surya Movies of A M Rathnam.

It was earlier reported that director Vishnuvardhan who directed Billa would be a part of this project but it has now been confirmed to be a Tamil remake of 'Dookudu' - A Mahesh Babu starrer with Samantha in the lead directed by Srinu Vytla.

Jeyam Raja who recently wrapped Velayudham with Vijay, Genelia and Hansika for a Diwali release has now been roped for this remake and the project is expected to go on the floor soon once Ajith wrapps shooting for Billa 2.

It’s the season of action heroes in Bollywood and ready to cash in on the trend is John Abraham, who’s got a swoon-worthy body but has strangely kept away from action films.

The upcoming film Force will see John Abraham showing his muscle power. The actor says it was a deliberate decision to do this movie.

“I had not attempted any action film after Dhoom - so my audience, my fans were a little disappointed with me-because I was not doing any action films. Quite a few people pointed out to me at many occasions that you have the physique, you have the strength then why don't you attempt a hard core action film- so I thought I should go for it. And post this film I think people will find me in the action hero slot and find John Abraham as an action hero,” John is quoted as saying in an agency interview.

In an action sequence in the film, John also lifted a bike.

“I also lifted a bike... it was nearly 110-120 kgs. It was a requirement for one of the scenes where my character had to lift a bike and then throw it. So yeah, I have thrown a bike,” John revealed.

However, before beginning to shoot for the film, John had to train for eight months.

“I had to take special training for this film. When we had finalised the film, the director Nishikanth Kamath had said very clearly to me that you have only eight months and I want a body that looks international. It should look like a machine. You should look like Sylvester Stallone physically,” he said.

The movie has John playing a narcotics officer.

“The character of Yash that I am playing in the film is very similar to the original script. He is an anti-drug officer and personally also I don't believe in drugs. The people who are into drugs I think are escapists,” John said.

Right said, John!

Vijay’s forthcoming movie is Velayutham with Genelia, Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan in lead roles.

Velayutham has Genelia portraying an Investigative Journalist and has been taking tips from her elder brother who happens to be a real life journalist.

Genelia is very much excited about her role in Velayutham as it resembles her character as a bold girl and While asked about Vijay she replied that, "It’s my second movie with Vijay. He has grown up his talents. she added that his role was tailor made for Vijay as it is a family entertainment based on sentiments, Comedy and action."

Velayutham's Audio released On August 28 and the movie is expected to hit the screens very soon.

Genelia D'Souza will no longer be a part of Bol Bachchan.

Though Genelia was supposed to star opposite Abhishek Bachchan in this Rohit Shetty film, there were differences that cropped up between the makers and the actress to which this decision was taken.

A hunt is now on for the second lead in the film that has Ajay Devgn and Asin topping the cast with Abhishek joining in as well.

“For Genelia this could have been a ticket into a big Bollywood commercial film. In fact, she was banking on the film since Rohit has an impeccable record when it comes to delivering hits. Moreover the film is said to be a remake of a cult classic like Golmaal (the old one starring Amol Palekar), which means a successful outing was guaranteed,” said a source.

However, there were issues that cropped up before the film had gone on the floors.

“All was certainly not well between Genelia and the makers of Bol Bachchan. Genelia was not quite happy with her role as she felt she deserved better due to her reasonably successful stint down south.

“On the other hand, the makers were not too happy with her either. The differences did not seem to end and it was in the interest of both parties to call it a day.”

No one knows whether Genelia was asked to leave or it was the petite actress who chose to walk out. However, the fact remains that as of now there is a spot vacant for another girl to step in.

Since the film is looking at going on the floors pretty soon, it is currently a critical situation for Bol Bachchan to find an instant replacement.

“A decision has to be taken in a jiffy as Ajay, Asin and Abhishek have already allocated their dates and have to move on to their other respective projects soon.”

Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza are excited to share screen space after a gap of seven years since their last outing together in 2004.

The yet to be titled movie is being produced by Tips Films.

"Working with my first n my most favourite co-star @geneliad after 7 long years. Today is the first day of the shoot. Excitttteeeeddd yeaahh (sic)," Riteish said on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Riteish and Genelia made their debut in Bollywood together in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam. Though the movie was average but Riteish-Genelia chemistry worked pretty well. Later, the duo worked together in Masti (2004).

An excited Genelia said, "My new film starts 2day, workin with @Riteishd after 7yrs.lllongggg time but excited 4sure. Need your prayers n wishes tweeps, bring it on (sic)."

"Dats such a sweet tweet rd (Riteish), I think its goin 2b so much fun again, fingers crossed (sic)," Genelia tweeted soon after Riteish expressed his enthusiasm.

There is a buzz in B-town that Riteish and Genelia, who have been dating each other for long, will be tying the knot in 2012. But both actors have never come on record about their relationship status, they have maintained the 'we are just good friends' stance.

Also, Riteish said, "My first film with TIPS - Kumarji (Taurani)- have been wanting to work with them for a long time."

Bollywood actor John Abraham talks about Bipasha Basu and his breakup in Simi Garewal Selects India's Most Desirable show. He is the guest on this week's episode.

Here's what he has said. The actor who will soon be seen in Force opposite Genelia D'Souza said: "We had a beautiful relationship but it doesn't exist anymore. I'm solely responsible for it. I didn't want to get married, maybe one day I would, and I'll take everyone by surprise."

The actor further said: "We've given closure to the relationship as I didn't match up to the relationship, I was not ready to commit when the relationship needed culmination. I have grown out of the relation... the breakup is painful but you have to move on." "We had decided, if we ever parted ways it won't be for another man or woman."

John has said it. Wonder what Bips has to say now?

Everyone acclaims Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Kaakha Kaakha as one of his most commendable of his showpieces so far.

It’s almost 7 years since Kaakha Kaakha had released and Bollywood producers have now attempted to recreate the magic with John Abraham and Genelia D’ Souza with its remake titled Force.

Director Nishikanth Kamat, who recently wrapped shooting Force started its post production works and has released the first look teaser for the film through satellite channels and websites paving way for huge expectations.

The 80secs teaser has John Abraham sporting his 8-pack abs and a couple of intimate shots between the hunk and hottie Genelia.

Producer Vipul Shah has decided to release the film by the second week of September, while audio that could hit stores in first week of August.

Actress Genelia D’Souza has landed up in trouble for something which we think she is definitely not the right person to be blamed. As per the sources she has shot for an advertisement wherein she is shown getting a bit cozy with the pilot in a cockpit.

Now this act of the petite beauty has irked many of the airline staffs, they feel that this ad is posing fun at their profession and is also hampering their image. As per an air hostess, working with a reputed airline, “The ad agencies should not ruin our reputation. People use such ads to spread gossip about us. Being glamorous is important in our profession, but people think we are easy because of such media portrayal”.

The officials want to ban this ad and are not ready to entertain such remarks on them at any cost. They are even planning to lodge a complaint against the ad makers. However, the creators of the ad feel that the ad hasn’t been designed to hurt the feelings of anyone involved with the professions. They say, “It is a light, flirtatious interlude. It doesn’t put down anyone from the aviation sector or any other profession”.

If a court case is being filed, Genelia is to get caught in it too. The staff at different airlines feels that being a celebrity she shouldn’t have taken up such a project!!

We wonder how far this issue is to be dragged but we hope Genelia gets out of it soon!

Genelia has said that she is back to the sets of Velayudham for the shooting the film's climax scene. The actress has said that director Jayam Raja has planned an elaborate climax and is filming it with the lead stars.

Vijay, Genelia, Hansika and others are shooting together and this shooting is expected to go on for a week or so before Raja wraps it up completely.

Soon after Velayudham shooting is over, Vijay will move over to Nanban shooting which is currently going on in Europe.

With the shooting of Velayudham reaching its final stages, the audio launch and film release dates are expected to be announced very soon.

The producer and director of Vijay’s Velayudham, Aascar Ravichandran and Jayam Raja respectively are keen to release the film as a birthday surprise on Vijay's birthday that falls on June 22nd.

Almost 80 per cent of the film is completed and those who have seen the rushes are gushing about it saying that the action, dance, and music of this entertainer is simply astounding.

Genelia and Hansika play the lovely lasses on either arms of Vijay, a milkman reminiscing us of Superstar Rajnikanth in Annamalai. Genelia plays an intrepid reporter and Hansika does what she does best with the role that she has been offered.

With lovely lasses on either of his arms and miling more milk with astounding entertaining elements Velayudham is expected to hit screens on Vijay's birthdate to make good business to that of a good looking milkman he has turned out to be.

The superhero Vigilante slash the alter ego of the milkman on the script is a surprise for which the director along with his producers play with the cards close to their chest as this project is another remake of the Telugu hit Azad (2000) that had Nagarjuna, Shilpa Shetty and late Soundarya playing pivotal roles.
