Southern sirens have a track record for doing well in Bollywood.

Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini and Sridevi are yesteryear heroines who made it big in Bollywood. Recently Asin has joined these ladies with her clever career moves and Taapsee. Kajal Agarwal, Tamannah, Shruthi Haasan and Ileana are other famous actors down South who look promising to make it big in Bollywood.

Ileana, the slender hottie from Goa joins the Bollywood league by making her debut with Barfi featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

The trailer of 'Barfi' is out and Ileana has made an impact already. She has also landed a big project with Shahid Kapoor to be directed by Rajkumar Santhoshi.

Looks like Ileana is all set to give the Bollywood Queen Bees some tough competition!

Lingusamy is planning to remake his Arya-Madhavan starrer Vettai in Hindi.

The director had approached Asin to reprise the role of Sameera Reddy, who played the wife of Madhavan and elder sibling of Amala Paul in the film.

But Asin seems to have turned down the offer.

“Right now I’m not ready to take up films that have multiple heroines. I definitely cannot do the role of an elder sister. And I also have some date issues,” said Asin justifying her decision to turn down Lingusamy.

Lingusamy's plans to remake his hit film Vettai in Hindi ran into troubled waters when there were problems encountered with the dialogues being translated into Hindi.

Lead actor, Shahid Kapoor said he will continue with the project only if they agreed to rope in a good Hindi dialogue writer. UTV and Lingusamy immediately brought in Prasoon Joshi and thanks to this clever move recommended by Shahid, everything started to go smoothly.

A visibly relieved Lingusamy said "It was a big load off my mind since I do not speak Hindi and I am still trying to understand the market". Shooting will begin in June. Ali Zafar will be playing Madhavan's role. Asked about the heroines, Lingusamy said, "Ileana D'Cruz is almost finalized to play the female lead".

Ileana may just agree to play the lead role in Lingusamy's Bollywood debut with Shahid Kapoor. This venture produced by UTV Motion Pictures is a remake of the Tamil hit 'Vettai' that had Arya, Madhavan, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles.

The Hindi remake of 'Vettai' which will also be produced by UTV Motion Pictures will have Shahid Kapoor and Ali Zafar reprising the roles made popular by Arya and Madhavan respectively.

It may be recalled that Lingusamy initially wanted Ileana opposite Arya for 'Vettai' but unfortunately things did not work out that he had to settle for Amala Paul.

There were reports earlier that Amala Paul may just get her Bollywood ticket this early in her career with the B-town remake of 'Vettai,' but if reports are to be believed, the director has requested Ileana to keep her dates free for the Hindi remake to have her romance Shahid in the role originally enacted by Amala Paul.

Lingusamy is ready to begin shooting for the film in May and the first schedule will he held in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Now all that remains is for the makers to finalize the rest of the cast too.

While on one hand the girls from south are craving to go and settle in Bollywood, this beautiful babe from North is thinking the other way round.

Yes! Here we are talking about Kajal Aggarwal, the latest sensation of Telugu and Tamil film industry.

Kajal Aggarwal, who recently tasted success through ‘Businessman’ pairing opposite India’s 5th Most Desirable Man in 2012, Mahesh Babu, feels happy and is more satisfied down South when compared to Bollywood.

Despite making a wonderful debut through the super hit film ‘Singam’ costarring Ajay Devgan in Bollywood, Kajal was mulling over Murugadoss’s film with Tamil superstar Vijay and decided to call off the offer from Yashraj Films to be directed by Manish Sharma costarring Shahid Kapoor.

Kajal's close associates revealed that she had taken this decision because she is more interested to do films in South than in Bollywood.

Seems like Anushka Sharma has been reduced to nothing but a puppet of Yash Raj Films.

Apparently, she has been asked by the production house not to retaliate about her alleged affairs with Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

A source said, “Anushka isn’t the kind who’ll hide things for the heck of it. But she has been advised by the YRF officials not to talk about her personal life to the media.”

However, it was the most recent Shahid Kapoor allegation that made her see red. So she chose to seek Shahid’s help itself to clear the air.

“She will be allowed to talk to the press only during the promotion of the film Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl. But Shahid has promised to bail her out in the time being,” added the source.

After all, what are “just good friends” for?

Kunal Kohli will be seen Break Ke Baad with his new untitled venture starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

As per the buzz, the movie is spread across three eras — 1910, 1960 and 2012 and depicts the story of two soulmates, played by Shahid and Priyanka who meet across these eras.

Kunal tweeted the picture giving an early glimpse of the look of Shahid-Priyanka in one of the eras.

Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma had a crackling chemistry in the movie Badmaash Company. We now we hear that director Maneesh Sharma of 'Band Baaja Baraat' is keen to cast the jodi for his third film.

Director Maneesh Sharma has found his muse. After working with Anushka in Band Baaja Baraat, he signed her again for Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl opposite Ranveer Singh, and is now planning to rope her in for his third film as well.

Anushka, who is called the blue-eyed girl of Yashraj Films was the natural choice for the role as she has delivered brilliant performances right from her first film and Maneesh couldn’t think of anyone else than Shahid Kapoor, as he liked the actor in Mausam.

As a source tells a daily, “Their (Anushka-Shahid) on-screen chemistry was so convincing that many thought that it stemmed from an off-screen romance.” But isn’t Maneesh busy with Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl which is supposedly releasing coming December?

The smart aleck has already started working on his third venture and is simultaneously thinking how the movie will progress. The film is said to be scripted by Jaideep Sahni, who has earlier written scripts of three superhits - Chak De India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Bunty Aur Babli.

The movie will go on floors next year and Anushka and Shahid are reportedly adjusting their dates for it.

Shahid Kapoor is not the one to take things lying down.

After lashing out at a movie critic for slamming his film Mausam, Shahid Kapoor fumed on twitter after reports suggested that he and Anushka Sharma kissed each other at a recent bash thrown by Imran Khan.

Shahid Kapoor wrote: “Extremely distasteful story today ...some journalists need to really understand where to draw the line between imagination and Reality . Sad . Unfair . Makes me angry..”

He added: “If nothing else they need to respect the dignity of a girl !!!!!”

Shahid also said that though he usually does not respond to such stories, this time he felt that the journalist had crossed the limits: “I usually don't react to any of these stories but this one was just a bit much.”

A daily had reported that Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor were caught while sharing a cozy moment with each other and their source was quoted as saying: “The duo were incontrollable and were on top of each other. It was only when another celebrity guest told them that the media were still downstairs and they could easily be spotted that they decided to come back inside.”

The troubles for Shahid Kapur and Sonam Kapoor's Mausam have ended and the movie has seen the light of the day.

So, as Shahid and dad Pankaj Kapur hosted a grand premiere to mark the release of their film, everyone seemed excited to watch the epic love story that marks the directorial debut of the latter.

Those in attendance included Hrithik Roshan, Riteish Deshmukh, Rani Mukherjee, Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Sinha and Rakesh Mehra.

The father-son duo looked relieved that they'd finally get to catch up on some good night's sleep after all the hiccups Mausam had faced.

Shahid and Sonam looked extremely cute together, especially the latter, who was an instant hit in her retro look, but Bollywood's other fashionistas didn't dissapoint!

Hrithik with wife Suzan were amongst the first ones to enter, while Bipasha and Genelia D'souza came in straight from Ahmedabad.

Sonam's "good friend" Punnet Malhotra was also spotted making a quite entry and exit, clearly avoiding any questions related to Sonam.

Shahid, along with Rani, paraded quite a few times on the red carpet. While Genelia-Riteish and a few others just came by to say "hi" while most of them stayed back and watched the entire film.

Most of them gave a big thumbs up to the movie.

Sonam Kapoor is not disturbed by the one-week delay in the release of her new movie Mausam as she feels that she has got an extra week to promote her "first true love story".

"I would be able to promote my film for one more week. It's absolutely fine if the release date got pushed by a week. We have worked very hard and we have been waiting for the film to release for a long time. Another seven days doesn't matter," Sonam told IANS.

The directorial debut of eminent actor Pankaj Kapoor, Mausam features Sonam as a Kashmiri girl who falls in love with a Punjabi boy, Shahid Kapoor.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had raised an objection to a 30-second scene in the film. Though the censor board had given a U-certificate to the film, IAF had given a conditional No Objection Certificate (NOC) as they wanted that 30-second sequence to be corrected.

Getting the NOC from IAF after correction was too late to send prints overseas, which compelled the makers to postpone release from Sep 16 to Sep 23.

The actress, who made her debut in acting with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor, describes Mausam as her first true love story.

"I have never done a perfect love story. The film is about two people who want to be together. Here both of them love each other. I have never done a love story where both of them love each other," said the actress who featured in films like Delhi-6, I Hate Luv Storys, Aisha and Thank You.

Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, is confident she would sustain long in the industry.

"I know that I am here to stay. I work very hard and hopefully I would be here for a long time," said the 26-year-old.

The cheer at the box office continues with the new release Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which raked in good collection during the weekend.

The film saw a nett collection of approximately Rs. 26 crore over its first weekend. It did a business of about Rs. 7.4 crore on Friday but racked up footfalls over the weekend. The occupancy went up and so did the jingle of money at the cash registers. The collections rose to Rs. 8.7 crore on Saturday and peaked at Rs. 10 crore on Sunday.

The critics have given mixed views about the film, but what matters for the makers at the end of the day is the numbers the film manages to crunch. If MBKD continues its run like this, it is on its way to be a hit, if not a superhit.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Bodyguard continues to pull crowds to the theatres, though the craze surrounding the film has now substantially subsided. The film has so far done the business of just a little less than a whopping Rs. 130 crore.

The coming Friday would see the release of Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s Mausam. It is also expected to open well.

The media had a field day when Sonam Kapoor said that she can turn gay for the beautiful Kareena Kapoor. But she didn’t mean it quite literally; it was just an expression of liking towards Bebo.

Recently the actress was asked what she actually meant by the ‘gay’ comment, and she laughed off the statement. Ah! nothing serious about it. Sonam is a beauty adorer and since there are so many pretty faces around, she couldn’t find a better expression than saying she won’t mind turning a gay.

Sonam tells a daily, why she was so starstruck that day, “I was on a spree of giving interviews for ‘Mausam’. The TV was switched on, and the promo of Bodyguard was being aired. Kareena Kapoor looked beautiful, and I went ‘I wouldn’t mind turning gay for Kareena’.”

In fact, Sonam can sing praises for other beauties too like Katrina and Angelina Jolie. The girl’s a motormouth, and when she gets talking it’s hard to stop. While playing KBC with Amitabh Bachchan she confessed that she is very talkative, and Shahid Kapoor too poked fun at her chatty nature.

What is common between Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor? No, it's not Kareena Kapoor! The two Bollywood hunks are battling it out for the top spot for India's sexiest bachelor.

Saif and Shahid have the charm to set heart beats racing and they will compete against each other on BIG CBS PRIME's "India's Sexiest Bachelor" show Saturday.

Interestingly, both the actors have started their journey in Bollywood at the age of 22.

Saif is dating Kareena and has two kids from his marriage with Amrita Singh, but this hasn't deterred the 40-year-old's female fan-following from drooling over him.

On the other hand, Shahid, 30, is popular among his female fans for his charming smile and hot body.

So watch out who gets lucky with the sexy tag!

Son of yesteryears actors Mithun Chakraborty and Yogita Bali, newbie Mahakshay alias Mimoh believes that being a star son is a "curse".

"Everything is a curse of being the son of such a big actor. It's a big burden," Mimoh told IANS.

"I am a newcomer and he (Mithun) has been here in the industry for 30 years and he says that he is still learning. I am just two films old. How much would I know," asked Mimoh, who made his acting debut with Jimmy in 2008.

"But people would still compare me with him," lamented Mimoh, who starred in the Vikram Bhatt directed Haunted 3D this year.

Being constantly compared to his National Award winning father is not easy but now Mimoh has learnt to take it in his stride.

"Now I am used to it. I am proud to be his son. It involves huge responsibility, which is helping me in being more responsible," said the 26-year-old.

Being the son of the signature actor of the disco dancing era, Mimoh is in the process of getting into the groove of some of the best dancers in the industry, including his father.

"If it's ever mentioned about dance, Mithun Chakraborty's name tops the list. Being his son, people expect me to dance too. But yes, I am still learning and trying to pick up some of dad's steps, some of Hrithik Roshan and some of Shahid Kapoor. And I think this learning process would continue forever," said Mimoh.

Here's looking at the on-off lovebirds of Bollywood.

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra looked on while on the sets of their film 'Teri Meri Kahaani' in Stratford-Upon-Avon. They've been there a for over a week now.

Whether it's to do with being in William Shakespeare's birthplace or the generally pleasant weather in the UK, their chemistry on the outdoor shoot is far different from what we get to see back home.

An eyewitness confirms that the good looking couple weren't just coolly comfortable but were constantly spotted together and couldn't seem to stop talking in-between takes.

The next schedule of the film starts today in Nottingham, where Dhoni's boys will be taking on England in the second Test.

Kingfisher model hunt 2011 winner Angela Jonsson who was considered Ranbir Kapoor's latest muse when they were spotted together at a restaurant, now sizzles in Femina magazine cover.

Angela Jonsson who was also related with Shahid Kapoor is said to have born in Chennai to an Icelandic father and Mangalorean mother.

In the Femina Magazine cover (August edition), Angela Jonsson is seen sporting a Stella McCartney citrus printed backless dress with the title – 'This Hottie takes Bollywood'.

Crowned the winner in the Kingfisher Calendar Hunt by Siddharth Mallya, son of the liquor baron Vijay Mallya and Deepika Padukone, the 20 year old who has got the oomph to be the face of Kingfisher, was happy to have emerged the winner

The bodylicious beauty has got amazing features and Siddharth during the finale was quoted saying, “She is a stunningly good-looking girl. She is a very sweet person and she radiates all that Kingfisher stands for.”

Actress Sonakshi Sinha has done it again! No, not bagged another film, but managed to upset another actor with her tall claims. After having rubbed actor Katrina Kaif the wrong way, the newbie has now apparently miffed actor Shahid Kapoor. And according to sources, in the wake of reports about ‘Shahid keen to work with her’ doing the rounds, Sinha has already shot off personal messages to him apologising for it. But insiders say that the actor is making no bones to hide his displeasure at being 'used'!

A source close to Kapoor — who is currently shooting in London — reveals that the actor was shocked to hear rumours of him being keen to work with Sinha, while she is not. “First there were rumours linking him to Bipasha Basu and now talks that he’s keen to work with Sinha. He is upset and feels that because he doesn’t retaliate, he’s becoming an easy target,” says the source.

Incidentally, Sonakshi did not hesitate to shoot off personal messages to Shahid apologising for the reports, claiming ignorance of its origin. But those close to the actor feel that since such stories have been openly circulated in the industry, the apology too should have been made on a public platform. The buzz doing the rounds claimed that since she did not make the final cut as a lead in Kapoor’s dad Pankaj Kapur’s film Mausam, she is now thwarting attempts by Shahid to be cast opposite her. “Yes, she was considered for Mausam, but then so were other actors. Too bad she’s taken it personally.

But the fact is that not once has Kapoor expressed any wish to want to work with her specifically. Spreading talks that suggest otherwise clearly benefit only Sonakshi here. So it’s anyone’s guess where the stories are coming from,” adds the source. Sinha did not respond despite repeated calls. Seems like B-wood’s just got another war brewing here. Over to Sona!

Ex-lovers Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur will be resuming the shoot for Kunal Kohli's next in London.

Things might get a bit awkward for them given a situation they are in. Sasha has moved on to Bipasha, while Priyanka has been bonding with Shah Rukh Khan. To add to this, the actors have to perform some heavy duty lovemaking scenes for the film.

A source reveals, "It's going to be uncomfortable. But given the level of professionalism these two display, it shouldn't be that much trouble. Both of them are excited about this project and want to make sure their personal equation doesn't affect it."

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has outrightly denied any similarities between Kunal Kohli's next film, in which she features opposite Shahid Kapoor, and Madhur Bhandarkar's much-in-the-news Heroine.

Following a news report that drew a comparison between the two movies, a furious Priyanka took to Twitter, and posted: "Woke up this morning to an amazing piece of fiction... a news story that says my role in Kunal's film is similar to that of Heroine. What a fertile imagination!!! There was no verification made with anyone before they made this resounding conclusion."

While Heroine, Bhandarkar's most ambitious project, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the life and times of a successful Bollywood actress, Kohli's untitled film will reportedly have Priyanka and Shahid play four sets of characters each.

One of those characters will be set in the 1960s, as suggested by an image where Priyanka was seen in a pink fish cut lehenga, a short blouse and Mumtaz-style draped dupatta, with a classic bouffant hairdo.

"Ours is a love story... where is the connect? What say @kunalkohli?" she added.

Kohli too gave his inputs to refute the news.

"Well said @priyankachopra, no one asked us anything, they just printed a baseless story. There's no similarity between the films," posted the filmmaker.

Priyanka, who was recently rumoured to be replacing Aishwarya Rai in Heroine, says she doesn't like being drawn into controversies.

"I don't appreciate being used to create unwarranted controversy with baseless information... unacceptable!" added the 29-year-old.
