Asin remains the only actress from the South to have made a successful transition to Hindi films in recent times, having tasted success within just three years of being in the Hindi film industry.

Three out of the four films she's done are in the list of the top 10 highest grossers of all time. " Ghajini", "Ready" and "Housefull 2" have all crossed the `100 crore (net collections) mark.

Asin has an enviable career success ratio in B-town when compared to contemporaries in the `100-crore list who have been in the industry for a decade or more.

Asin's next film is Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan".

Says the actress, "I am thrilled to have three films in the coveted 100-crore list. It is a function of luck, working with good people, growth in Bollywood and to some extent, my picking fun and emotional stories, which tend to do well. For me, it is not about the crores in collections, but entertaining such a big number of people. If the audience is happy, the rest follows. Collections are one factor, but more than anything, I'd like to work in films I'm passionate about. I love the new generation of filmmakers and hope I get to work with them."

She has also kept a relatively low profile compared to her peers. "I have to admit, my PR and networking skills suck!" she says, "I may get all self-righteous about it, but the fact is that PR matters. I come from the South, where self-marketing isn't naturally in the culture, so I've been deficient in that area. The good thing about downplaying myself is that when achievements come, people are positively surprised. I believe my work should do the talking."

Asin says her family is her support system. "It may sound like a cliche," she says, "but my family defines who I am and is my strongest support base. My parents have given me the right amount of independence to pursue my dreams, but at the same time, brought me up well and kept me grounded. There are absolutely no starry tantrums allowed at home! And that is why I don't have them on the sets." What about Mr Right? "Ah! Good men and good scripts - two things I'm looking for," she smiles, "So far, I've been lucky with the scripts. It's perhaps time to focus on finding the man."

Beside proving her talent as an actor, Kangana Ranaut is making a mark in the fashion world too.

The actor has set a trend with the different looks and designer clothes she adorns at events and functions. In fact, young gals are aping her style and religiously follow her fashion sense in trendy and film magazines.

Director Milan Luthria, who worked with Kangana in 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' described her as someone versatile and creative.

"Kangana looks radically different with each look she tries yet looks stunning in all. In addition, she's extremely well prepared and knowledgeable about fashion. Plus she has a unique sex appeal that has given her a different identity altogether. Last but not the least, Kangana has a very fine bone structure making her face a photographer's delight," said the director laughingly adding "My nickname for Kangana is chameleon."

Talking about 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai', "I distinctly remember her walking into my office with a complete bound folder of each and every look she planned to have in the film. And she was spot-on. What's more, Kangana is deceptively professional. She'll party hard with all the crew but will be the first to report on set," recalled Luthria.

Tena Desae and her prior films - 'Yeh Faasle' and 'Sahi Dhande Galat Bande'in Hindi - may have gone unnoticed, but her third film was not just noticed but also attracted the international attention being directed by John Madden, whose previous work includes Oscar Winner 'Shakespeare in Love.

John Madden's 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' features an ensemble cast, with Judi Dench, Dev Patel, Celia Imrie, Bill Nighy, Ronald Pickup, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson and Penelope Wilton as a group of British retirees staying in an ancient retirement hotel in India run by Sonny played by Dev Patel.

Tena Desae, the pretty Indian model turned actor adds the Indian flavor to the film as the beautiful Sunaina, with Whom Sonny is madly in Love with..

Fresh from the positive reviews that the film has generated, Tena is ecstatic as she says, "I was so edgy prior to the release, because this film was going to be seen all over the world. While I had experienced the excitement of working with an ensemble cast, seeing myself on the big screen was going to be a totally different affair! And I must say, the initial reactions have really made me happy."

As the young actress is excited with her debut international film, ask her how she's dealing with comparisons being made to Freida Pinto and she says, "We both may have started the same way, but obviously we are different individuals and will chart our film journeys in our own ways. Honestly speaking, the comparisons with Freida don't really rattle me. I was almost prepared that this will happen!"

And now that Tena will be flooded with film offers, does it mean bye-bye to modeling?

"Why should I have to say bye to one thing to do another? I can do lots of things at one time and as much as I love to do films, I'd love to do ads as well!," said the gorgeous belle of her desire to continue modelling while she acts.

'Kalakalappu', a comedy caper directed by Sundar C with Vimal, Shiva, Santhanam, Anjali and Oviya in lead roles is running packed houses and those who have seen the flick would have also noticed the glamour quotient in the film besides laughing their f#cking a$$es out.

"I did not force Anjali and Oviya to wear glamorous costumes in Kalakalappu. I just explained them the demands of the script and the thorough professionals understood it," said Sundar C about the two leading ladies who were seen with an extra dosage of glamour.

Initially titled 'Masala Cafe', the film was rechristened as 'Kalakalappu' before its release worldwide. Following the stupendous response, the producers of the film have decided to go ahead with a sequel with exactly the same team.
