Actor Richa Gangopadhyay got a pleasant surprise recently when she was presented with a 'Fashion Diva' award at the Southspin Fashion awards 2012.

The hot looking actor was honored with the 'Fashion Diva' award for her unbiased ethnic look in the STR starrer 'Osthe' - a Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster 'Dabangg' that starred Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

The actor will be next seen in the Goutham Menon produced 'Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum' and has been signed up for a couple of Telugu projects each with 'Rebel Star' Prabhas and 'Mass Maharaja' Ravi Teja.

Richa's next outing in Tamil is the Venkat Prabhu diet 'Biriyani' opposite Karthi in the lead. This biggie that is expected to release by the end of this year would feature newly married couple Sneha and Prasanna sharing screen space with Director Mysskin donning the grease paint to play the villain in the film.

Looks like Richa is progressing pretty good pace even on her career front.

Richa Gangopadhyay hasn’t acted in Tamil post Mayakkam Enna and Osthe.

When asked why, Richa reasons that she is very selective about her role.

Richa feels she had a perfect launch pad followed by Osthe and now she is looking for something much different than what she has already done.

"I have already rejected 8 scripts and will do the film which my gut says is right," said Richa adding that she is now shooting for a Bengali film 'Bikram Singha', a remake of Karthi starrer Siruthai.

We wish the gutsy actress all the luck to get a script of her heart’s liking.

There was rumor doing the rounds that Richa would be doing an item number in Prabhu Deva's Hindi remake of Siruthai titled 'Rowdy Rathore' with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

Richa was quick to deny the rumor and used the opportunity to stress that she is in the industry to do meaningful roles and item numbers are out of the question for her.

Richa added that she has no idea where the gossip came from as she does not know anyone associated with the film and is currently busy with her Telugu film with Prabhas and her Bengali debut with Prosenjit which coincidentally is also a remake of Siruthai.

Richa’s Hindi debut is uncertain for now. The actress was signed up for Shortcut Romeo, to be directed by Susi Ganesan.

Shortcut Romeo is a remake of the Jeevan-Sonia Agarwal starrer Thiruttupayale.

Susi Ganesan, the director of the film is yet to begin the shooting and Richa is said to have declined the offer to star opposite Vijay in Thuppaki as she was set on making her Bollywood debut.

Shortcut Romeo, the Bollywood project of director Susi Ganesan that was to launch Richa is now likely to be shelved, say sources in the tinsel town. It is worth mentioning here that Richa would also be making her debut in the Bengali remake of Vikramarkudu.

Actress Richa Gangopadhyay, who had signed up for the Hindi film Shortcut Romeo, which features actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, has walked out of the project. The Mayakkam Enna-fame actress took the decision after the crew demanded more dates from her.

Shortcut Romeo is the remake of the Tamil hit Thiruttu Payale, which was directed by Susi Ganesan. The Hindi version has Neil Nitin Mukesh and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. Richa was to play the role that Sonia Agarwal had played in the Tamil version.

"Before I signed the film, both the director and the actor were flexible with the dates and I had also informed them that I would be simultaneously doing a Telugu project. But after the agreement was signed and film confirmed, Neil Nithin Mukesh was slightly pushy about the dates and wanted me to commit for three full months for this film," says the actress.

The upset actress has even explained her situation to them. "In fact, they promised to close the shoot by February. But it's already December and the shooting is yet to start," added the actress.

However, Richa is inclined to do the movie. "I really liked the script and the photoshoot has also been done. But because of a simple logistics issue, I had to terminate the agreement. It's formally over now. Presently, I'm doing only a Telugu project," the actress informed.

Richa Gangopadhyay is feeling overwhelmed with the response to Mayakkam Enna and says that she has got a lot of positive feedback from fans and she could not have asked for a better launch in Tamil.

Richa was full of praise for Selvaraghavan and Dhanush for their work in the film and is eagerly awaiting her next release, Osthe opposite STR.

According to Richa, Osthe should also do wonders to her career as it is entirely in the commercial format.

"The two roles are diametrically different and I'm happy to have received my opportunity in proving my versatility this early in my career," said Richa expecting to prove herself as a versatile actor.

According to the latest information, Osthi will release on the 24th and Mayakkam Enna on the 25th of November this year.

Initially both the films were expected to clash at the box office but later it was decided that they will release on different weekends.

Finally it has turned out that both the films will hit the screens with just a day apart.

Although Dhanush and Silambarasan are not in for a head-on clash, their respective fans are very excited about the films’ response at the box office.

Dhanush has teamed up with his brother Selvaraghavan after a long time and this has created a curiosity over Mayakkam Enna. On the other hand, Osthi is the remake of the Hindi smash hit Dabangg.

Richa Gangopadhyay, the hottest talk of the town will be seen in a cameo in the Telugu remake of Siddique's Bodyguard titled 'Ganga' directed by Gopichand. This talked about cameo had Bollywood hottie Katrina Kaif featured as herself in the Hindi version of the film.

Katrina Kaif was seen in a two-minute appearance as herself opposite Salman Khan in Bodyguard, a Special appearance in song "Aaya Re Aaya Bodyguard." This romantic action film also directed by Siddique had Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead, essaying roles originally performed by Malayalam Superstar Dileep and Nayantara.

Director Gopichand wanted a popular Tollywood actress to do the cameo as the T-town dream merchants are reluctant to take chances even with guest appearances these days.

Since a popular heroine brings in more crowds than a newcomer, the producers don't mind spending few lakhs of rupees, to give a boost to their films.

“Although we zeroed in on Richa and Parvati Melton for the cameo, finally Richa was selected as she had already done a film with actor Venkatesh,” says the director.

Pawan Kalyan has things at his own pace.

Being committed to Vishnuvardhan's Panjaa, the Power Star could not give accomodate his dates for the making of Gabbar Singh, the Telugu remake of the Hindi blockbuster Dabangg that is to be directed by Harish Shankar with Shruti Haasan in the lead.

Meanwhile, the Tamil version titled Osthi, starring Simbu and Richa Gangopadhyaya is well on its way to release later this month.

To talk a bit about Osthe, the film has Simbu playng Osthe Velan, the role that Salman Khan essayed in the original. The trailers for this flick is already out and is eagerly awaited for its item song that features Mallika Sherawat, that is a rage across the state already.

Pawan will start working on Gabbar Singh very soon as Harish Shankar began shooting some scenes on Shruti Hassan. The film is scheduled to release in the summer of 2012.

If Osthe does well in Tamil Nadu, it will certainly be a confidence-booster for the makers of Gabbar Singh.

Richa Gangopadhyay who will be making her debut in Tamil this month with Osthe and Mayakkam Enna was baffled when she heard the latest rumor doing the rounds.

According to rumor mongers Richa had been approached for a film with Jiiva and STR intervened and told her not to work with his rival and the actress decided to give the project a thumbs down.

The actress was very unhappy when she heard this and quickly clarified her position.

Richa said that no film with Jiiva was offered to her and STR certainly does not interfere in decisions regarding her career.

Jiiva has signed a film with Ahmed, who hogged the limelight last year by directing 'Vamanan', a Jai-starrer.

This untitled film is still in its discussion stages and is expected to hit the floors very soon with Richa Gangopadhyay as the leading lady.

"Ahmed has penned a script that impressed Jiiva and the actor has already expressed his consent to be part of the movie. Following this, the director is busy doing preliminary works to start the project," reported the source.

Richa, who has become a 'most wanted' actress in Kollywood, following her releases 'Osthi' opposite STR and 'Mayakkam Enna' with Dhanush, has been approached by Ahmed to share the screen space with Jiiva in this yet-to-be-titled film.

"Though Richa very much wants to accommodate herself in the movie, she finds it very difficult to adjust dates, as she is also busy with her Hindi project 'Shortcut' (remake of 'Thiruttu Payale'). But she is making sincere efforts to work out her call-sheet," adds the source.

It was not too long ago, when actress Anushka Shetty had walked out of Raghava Lawrence's film Rebel that starred Rebel Star Prabhas.

There were rumors of Anushka's fallout with the director following which, she chose to walk out of the film.

Despite all these rumors, Anushka had rubbed off the repors citing date issues for not working on the project.

But now, Anushka is all set to be paired opposite Prabhas, but this time - it is for a film directed by Koratala Siva.

Post "Billa" this is the first time the duo will be seen together.

Also sharing screen space with Prabhas is actor Richa Gangopadhayay.

With the Diwali fever settling down, the month of November is ready with some interesting releases lined up.

According to trade sources, Dhanush and Selvaraghavan’s Mayakkam Enna is scheduled for a 11-11-11 release and Silambarasan starrer Osthi will hit the marquee the following week on 18th November 2011 with Samuthirakani directed, Sasi Kumar starrer Poraali making to the public eye on 25th November 2011.

With Mayakkam Enna and Osthi slated for release a week away from another, fan's expect that the two films may clash at the box office.

STR cannot stop gushing about his film Osthi with director Dharani.

STR says that it is going to be a milestone in his career and all due credit would go to Dharani.

STR praised his director and said that he had inspired him to work hard on the film and the results will soon be there for everyone to see.

The climax scene of the movie was finally filmed with STR taking off his shirt displaying his six pack abs that vaunted as a result STR's dedication and hardwork hitting the gym regularly.

The trailer of Osthi was released this Diwali and the music has also been launched. Both have been well received and Osthi and STR seem ready to rock this November.

Finally Simbhu is ready to rip off his shirt for Osthi having developed a six pack abs after strenuous work-out in the gym for over a month.

‘I am ready and raring to go. My six-pack abs is ready for the climax,’ says Simbhu.

The climax of Osthi, a action sequence between Simbhu and Sonu Sood will be shot in Chennai.

Osthi is a remake of the Hindi hit Dabbang with Simbhu playing Osthi Velan, a role enacted by Salman Khan in the original. Richa Gangopadhyaya plays his heroine.

Directed by Dharai, the movie has music composed by S Thaman.

Osthi directed by Dharani was supposed to release in time for Diwali.

Unfortunate for STR that he had to disappoint his fans and make them wait for the film as it was not ready on time. But we still get a slice of Silambarasan this Diwali as the theatrical trailer of Osthi will be released.

STR, Richa Gangopadhyay, and Sonu Sood are the main leads in the film.

Earlier, promos of three songs were released and the music by Thaman has become quite the rage. So before the big release, hopefully in November, the fans will get a taste of things to come with the trailer.

Richa Gangopadhyay's debut films in Tamil are yet to be released, but Richa Gangopadhyay has already bagged a ticket to Bollywood.

The 'Osthe' and 'Mayakkam Enna' actress has been signed on by director Sushi Ganesh (yes, that is how Susi Ganesan wants to be known in Bollywood!) for his Hindi remake of his superhit Thiruttu Payale, which starred Jeevan, Sonia Aggarwal and Malavika in lead roles.

Susi Ganesh has cast Richa Gangopadhyay opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh in his debut Hindi flick titled 'Shortcut' launching himself along with the actress.

The trailer of the film was launched during the Airtel Super Singers Live show that was aired on Vijay TV and it has naturally caught the attention of the viewers raising the expectation levels several notches up.

The television show 'Airtel Super Singers' enjoys immense popularity and it was indeed a good move to launch the trailer.

Mayakkam Enna is a directorial venture by Selvaraghavan and it has Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay playing the lead roles.

The songs have been set to tune by G V Prakash and they have already turned out to be chartbusters and interestingly, Dhanush has turned a lyricist in Mayakkam Enna.

The film is scheduled to release this diwali racing along with the Vijay starrer Velayutham and Suriya starrer 7aum Arivu.

There were a lot of expectations that Mayakkam Enna would be released in September in order to avoid the Diwali rush, but the post production work seems to have delayed its release.

Richa Gangopadhyay, the heroine of Osthi with STR and Mayakkam Enna with Dhanush says that she only wants to do roles that have meat on them and not the usual plastic characters.

The actress said Mayakkam Enna has given her a chance to show off her acting chops as her character has been beautifully developed by Selva. And as for Osthi, Richa says that her character along with the script has been modified from the original to suit the Tamil audience.

"My role in Osthi opposite Simbhu is prominent and is performance - oriented to that of Sonakshi's in Dabangg. It has been reworked to suit the Tamil audience" she says. She added that she was lucky to get such good roles with the top actors of this generation and is keeping her fingers crossed for more good offers.

Silambarasan's Osthi, directed by Dharani will have a grand audio launch on October 6th, for Vijayadasmi and STR has cooked up something special for the fans.

Originally, the makers had planned to release a single but now they have decided to simply release the entire album. Thaman is the music director for this film and word is that he has done a good job.

As a special surprise for the fans, Salman Khan is likely to put in an appearance for the function. Mallika Sherawat will also be present as she will seen in an item number for the film with STR and Sonu Sood.

Only this song has to be filmed and the other four songs have been neatly wrapped up.
