Actor Sujatha, who impressed Telugu audiences with her natural style of acting, died in Chennai on Wednesday. The 58-year-old actress had been reportedly ailing for sometime.
Known for her portrayal of roles in 'sentimental family dramas,' Sujatha made a lasting impression on audiences. The Malayalam actress who was born in Sri Lanka debuted in Telugu films with 'Gorintaku' directed by Dasari Narayana Rao in 1979. In all, she worked in more than 300 Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films since she began her acting career in 1968.
In 'Gorintaku' she paired with Shobhan Babu and sacrifices her love in a love story that gets a twist.
Thus began an affair with Telugu audiences who got to see her in many more appropriate roles.
Sujatha was last seen in the Telugu film 'Sri Ramadasu' in 2006.
The Telugu film industry has condoled the death of Sujatha, a 'natural actress'.
Sujatha acted in some impressive films like 'Edanthasthula Meda', 'Naku Nuvvu Neeku Nenu', Akkineni Nageshwara Rao-starrer 'Justice Chakravarthy', Chiranjeevi-starrer 'Sneham Kosam', 'Villain', 'Baba', 'Thappu Chesi Pappu Koodu', 'Pelli', 'Soorigadu', 'Chanti', 'Guppedu Manasu', 'Sutradharulu', 'Agnigundam', 'Anubandam', 'MLA Edukondalu', 'Seethadevi', N T Rama Rao-starrer 'Circus Ramudu', and 'Prema Tarangalu'. She also acted in the Hindi film 'Ek Hi Bhool'.
