Veteran Tamil actor Ravichandran died on Monday, July the 25th at a private hospital in Chennai where he was being treated for nearly ten days for a lung infection. Doctors said that he was on a life support system as his body did not respond to the treatment and his condition had deteriorated over the last two days.

"His pulse and BP dropped drastically. We could do nothing," a doctor said.

A popular hero of the 1960s and 70s, made his debut as a hero in Sridhar's "Kadhalikka Neramillai" and starred in one of the best suspense thrillers ever 'Adhe Kangal (1967)', which eventually became a huge hit.

Ravichandran, who was last seen in "Kanden Kadhalai" as the grandfather of actress Tamannaah, had acted aside erstwhile heroes like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan and among his latest films were "Arunachalam" with Rajinikanth and "Pammal K Sambandam" with Kamal Haasan.

Ravichandran was 71 and is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons.
