Sun Pictures recently bounced back from controversies with two back to back releases of ‘Mangatha’ and ‘Vedi’. It has now landed in trouble again having 'The Theatre Owners Association' threaten them of not releasing any movie that is associated with Sun Pictures.

The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Association has decided that it will not extend its co-operation to films produced or distributed by Sun Pictures, protesting the latter’s delay in repaying the deposit funds amounting to Rs 2.5 crore for screening films like Enthiran, Maapillai, Vettaikaaran and Sura that is distributed by them.

A statement of the association has said, “We have been suffering at the hands of Sun Pictures for a very long time. Due to our association’s intervention a section of the theatre owners are getting the refund from Sun Pictures. But several other theatres are still suffering despite several rounds of talks. Sun Pictures doesn’t seem to come forward to settle the money and left us with no choice but to take this decision”.

Panneerselvam association general secretary explained that the deposit fund had nothing to do with the success or failure of a film, and it was mandatory for producers to repay the deposit fund to the theatres. A decision has been made that the theatres would not co-operate with any film that is associated with Sun Pictures.
