Mambattiyan, a film that released in 1983 starred Thiagarajan and Saritha in the lead roles and went on to become a cult hit. It may be mentioned here that actor Thiagarajan, who decided to remake his yesteryear hit with his son Prashanth playing the lead role - is the Producer/Director of Mambattiyan.
Thiagarajan has roped in Meera Jasmine to play the female lead opposite Prashant with Mumaith Khan, Vadivelu and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
The audio launch of Mambattiyan is being planned to be telecast live on Sun TV. The songs that have been set to tunes by Thaman has raised the expectations already because of the song 'Kaatuvazhi' that Silambarasan has rendered.
