Kangna Ranaut, who has set the screen ablaze with a variety of screen characters from supermodel to a small-town girl, is now all set to play India's first female sci-fi character in Rakesh Roshan's sequel to Krrish.
Kangna was the original choice for this role and was approached by the superhit filmmaker six months ago. However, owing to her other commitments, she had declined the offer. Destiny had other plans. Rakesh Roshan, who subsequently approached a number of other actresses, found himself back at square one because talks with all his other choices fell through. And, Kangna, the original choice is now the supergirl in Krrish 2.
Two simultaneous movies facilitated Kangna's entry into this superhero franchise. First the shooting of her film Dedh Ishqya was pushed to early next year. Second, Roshan himself moved the shooting of the Krrish sequel to December this year. So, when the offer came to Kangna a second time over, she was delighted to accept the movie with Hrithik Roshan.
One knows that Kangna has essayed roles that deal with fine human emotions, be it her role as a diva in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, a bindaas small town girl in Tanu Weds Manu or a supermodel in Fashion with elan.
"Moving to a sci-fi character that draws its inspiration from superwomen like Wonder Woman or Supergirl was a challenge and a natural progression for an actress who loves challenges. She's embarked on a rigorous training schedule which includes an intense martial arts programme. She believes the role is going to be a lot of fun and is looking forward to this," says sources close to the actress.
