The Priyamani starrer 'Charulatha' finally earns the distinction of being the first movie about conjoined twins to be released.

'Charulatha' directed by Pon Kumaran and co-starring Skanda is an adaptation of the Thai horror 'Alone' that dealt with obsession and hatred of twin sisters conjoined at their stomach.

Hansraj Saxena, with his new banner SAX PICTURES has acquired the distribution rights of the Tamil version and is releasing the film on 21st September, 2012 with a U/A certificate by CBFC in view of the horror elements in the film.

The Tamil-Kannada bilingual was earlier reported to have 480 CG shots as planned but now the final count is 620 CG shots as the team is taking extra care and due diligence to make sure that the visual output is without any blemishes. The film is also being dubbed in Malayalam and Telugu to meet the demands of actor Priyamani's popularity in South Indian cinema.
