Actor Michael Douglas and Catherina Zeta-Jones are shielding their two young children from the actress' struggle with bipolar disorder because they have only just come to terms with their father's recent cancer battle.
The " Wall Street" actor underwent intensive treatment last summer after being diagnosed with stage four throat cancer, reports said.
He beat the disease in January but the Hollywood couple's personal lives took another hit in April when the Chicago beauty was found to suffer from bipolar.
Doctors diagnosed the condition after Zeta-Jones checked into a mental health clinic to treat depression, brought on by the stress of her husband's battle.
The stars, who explained all about Douglas' cancer fight to Dylan, 10, and Carys, 8, have chosen not to burden their kids with their mother's issues so soon although Douglas worries they will find out through gossip at school.
"No, they don't know yet. We gotta give them a chance, they're just getting over the other issues," said Douglas.
