Riding high on the success of The Dirty Picture, actress Vidya Balan, who has taken everyone by surprise with her bold portrayal of the role, inspired by late South sex siren 'Silk Smitha', says the reigning Khans of Bollywood can now use 'Balan' as a suffix to their names.

"I feel blessed for so much of appreciation and gratitude. I am happy that I got the chance to work with good directors and I should not take credit for it. I have never been part of any race for the number one position or anything of that sort," Vidya told reporters here.

"It feels good that people are saying that The Dirty Picture is not dirty. The film is a huge landmark for me," she said.

On being asked is she is the new female Khan in the industry, Vidya chuckled, "Well, the Khans can now add Balan at the end of their names, instead of me adding Khan to my name."

Reportedly, Kareena Kapoor also intends to get 'dirty' with her upcoming film, Heroine, to which Vidya says, "I don't think anyone can get dirty like this."

On whether she is the female version of Bollywood's serial kisser Emraan Hashmi, Vidya says, "The idea is not bad. If girls are trying to outdo boys in all areas then why not in this way."

In the last two months, two actresses have denied posing for FHM’s India magazine the moment their skimpily-clad or nude pictures were released.

While Pakistan’s Veena Malik has reportedly sued the magazine for Rs 10 crore, there was no news of Kajal Aggarwal, who denied posing for the September issue, taking any legal action.

FHM’s editor Kabeer Sharma clarifies, “It’s quite obvious why such strong denials have come. The media has the tendency to make big issues out of such incidents. People should look at the big picture as it takes guts to feature nude in front of the world.”

Sharma feels bad about the Veena Malik incident in spite of being sued for Rs 10 crore. “In a way, I sympathise with her. All this attention does amount to pressure which might make the actors go back on their decisions.”

While he refuses to comment on the legal aspect of the issue, he points us to his Twitter account which reads: “Seen Veena’s notice on d net & fwded to legal for appropriate action. allegations’re false...investigating options including a countersuit.”

The magazine is reportedly going to file a countersuit for Rs 25 crore.

Sharma, however, ensures that he has all the evidence needed to prove that both the shoots took place the way they were meant to be. “One should understand why Kajal didn’t pursue the matter legally (referring to Kajal’s denial of posing semi-nude for their cover).”

Malik’s legal notice to the magazine, meanwhile, refers to posing in a bikini or a thong and not completely in the buff. But amidst the “I didn’t do it” and “she definitely did” blame game, we ask people what difference does it make.

Anubhuti Verma, a fashion communications student who has always looked up to fashion magazine covers for inspiration, feels it’s a definite publicity stunt which is not likely to help.

“Nudity in the fashion world is history. This controversy will definitely not affect many in the fashion world nor will help the magazine sell extra copies.”

Those who goggled and gaped at the bare-all cover pics of Veena Malik on the cover of a magazine were surprised to learn that the Pakistani sex-bomb claimed she hadn’t posed for the pic at all and that the photos had been morphed!

Amidst news that Veena was suing the magazine for ten crore rupees, allegations and counter-allegations swirled around, with everyone who had an opinion getting into the act.

Which reminds us of an earlier, similar incident. Even as fans grabbed an eyeful of a topless Kajal Aggarwal on the cover of (not-so-coincidentally?) the same magazine, as she barely managed to cover her modesty with her arms, came news that the photos had been morphed.

But Kajal didn’t protest too much and there were many who felt that there had been collusion. Before the pictures, Kajal was perceived as just another fledgling starlet down south, making her way into Bollywood. Could the risqué photoshoot have been a part of a well-calculated plan?

Chances are no one will know for sure. Kajal’s popularity did get a big boost after the pics. In Veena’s case, she was already famous, but then she’s a known publicity hunter.

The kind of attention that Veena has garnered, especially with ISI tattooed on her arm in the picture, has been unprecedented. While the international media has gone berserk with tales of who is suing whom, Veena is now a household name in India.

Fashion photographer Karthik Srinivasan, cynically shreds the veneer of glitz and glamour when he says, “This is not exploitative. It’s a publicity stunt that could possibly have both parties involved. A stunt like this assures an actress of fame within minutes and the magazine gets its mileage too. Everyone is aware of what they are getting into.”

It can’t be denied that a magazine does gain some popularity out of such a stunt. But does an international magazine need to stoop to this, that too twice in a row?

Actress Janani Iyer of Avan Ivan fame has read of both the morphing incidents and believes, “No actress desires such infamy. I know of actresses constantly coming across their morphed pictures online and I understand how infuriating it is. To objectify women and exploit them for a few bucks is certainly unethical.”

Ad man Prahlad Kakkar looks at the whole brouhaha as an invasion of a person’s privacy. “In this male-dominated world, the woman only has the vestiges of dignity to hold on to. Even that is robbed when you invade her space and expose her in such a manner in the public domain.”

The celebrated ad man adds, “Not all publicity is good publicity. Not everyone can be a Rakhi Sawant!”

Controversial Pakistani actress-model Veena Malik hopes to find herself a life partner on national television through Imagine TV's reality show Swayamwar season 4, Veena Ka Vivaah. The actress not only gives out details on her marriage on a reality show but also talks about her nude pictures on the December 2011 issue of FHM India, that had brought her back on the headlines again.

Veena Malik, who had decided to face the questions raised at her, came up with the following responses as you may see below:

You have posed nude for FHM India Magazine and the images have now become a fury raising more than just a few brows. How can you add some light on this issue?

"I have never posed nude. I have never done anything like that ever. My manager and legal team is looking into the matter and We will take legal action."

Why did you decide to get married on a reality show?

"I was apprehensive when I was offered this show six months ago but I discussed it with my family and they were more excited than I was. I have not been lucky in my past relationships so my father told me to give it one more chance to find Mr Right.

My two elder sisters got married at the age of 14 so naturally, my parents wanted me also to get married but I told them that I will marry if I come across Mr Right.

I have watched the previous seasons and feel it's a genuine and exciting show."

What went wrong with your past relationships?

"The first one broke up because the guy wasn't loyal to me. The second one was arranged by my father. I am an independent girl, work and live on my terms and conditions. And this guy wanted me to shift to the US for good, so that too didn't work out. Hope it works for me this time."

Did money play a major role in your accepting this show?

"No. But, yes, I have been paid very well for this show. I am very happy with the kind of money they have paid. Money is important but it is not everything.

I don't think I have got more than 10 marriage proposals in all these years. But on this show, I will get to meet different people from various countries and chose Mr Right, which is really an interesting concept."

What are the qualities that you are looking for in your Mr Right?

"First, I am not concerned about the nationality and the religion of the prospective groom, but he should love me unconditionally.

Second is money because if I say money is not important, then I would be lying. Bahut gareeb insaan is a big no-no for me.

And then comes good looks. No cheaters also.

He should be romantic and have a good sense of humour. I don't mind moderate drinking and smoking but he shouldn't do drugs.

There are several other things that I am looking for, but these come first. Also, he should smell good."

Will you really get married on the show like Rahul Mahajan or just get engaged like Rakhi Sawant and Ratan Rajpoot?

"I am doing this show with the intention of getting married if I come across the right person. I would not like to comment on the other contestants."

Are you concerned about the reaction in Pakistan after doing this show?

"It's an honour for a Pakistani to do a show like this. It is only a section of people who had issues in the past. Once I went there and cleared up the issues, everything was fine. But this Swayamvar is part of my personal life. No one has the right to tell me what I should do and whom I should marry."

Apparently, your former boyfriend Mohammed Asif called you before he was convicted in the match-fixing case.

"Yes, he called me a few days before his conviction. He wanted to meet me but I don't see any reason to meet him because he is a closed chapter in my life.

Also, he is married now and I don't want to hurt another woman.

I feel that the punishment is a bit too harsh and I pray that he comes out as a changed man after his sentence."

Can you talk about the films you are doing?

"I have completed four movies: Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Dal Mein Kuch Kaala Hain, Zindagi 50-50 and finally there is Mumbai 125 KMs which is a 3D horror thriller.

The films are in the post-production stage and there are two more films for which I am shooting."

A day before the release of Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture, the pictures of her next movie was released. We got to see another side of the actress in Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller, Kahaani.

After The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan is now playing a pregnant woman in her next movie Kahaani. Unlike her sensuous character with oomph in The Dirty Picture, Vidya plays the role of a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband.

The film is scheduled to release in March 2012 and is reportedly inspired by the Hollywood action thriller Kill Bill starring Uma Thurman.

Kahaani is the story of a pregnant woman who is searching for her lost husband. Vidya Balan takes the role of a pregnant woman who comes down from London in search of her husband. The film has been shot in Kolkata at real locations and if the director is to be believed, this will be one of Vidya’s most memorable performances. The surprise package in Kahaani is a song sung by Amitabh Bachchan.

Director Sujoy Ghosh wrote the script of the film keeping Vidya in mind. “The moment I started writing it, I knew I was going to cast her,” he said.

“KAHAANI was shot in all real locations. No budget to build set. In Kolkata it’s totally impossible to shoot real but we did it:),” tweeted Sujoy Ghosh after the shooting of the film was over.

Vidya Balan would always joke with her friends about how differently women walk when they are pregnant. Now, she is playing the same role and had also tried to copy the way they take deep breaths in between.

On the poster, Vidya’s character is portrayed as Goddess Durga. Not only does the poster have a connection to the Goddess Durga, we also have a heavily pregnant Vidya looking bewildered in the chaos.

The thriller is set to release on March 9, 2012.

Katrina Kaif features in an item number as Chikni Chameli in Karan Johar's new-age Agneepath. But her item number in the film moves away from the hip-swaying Sheila, as Katrina will be dancing the Lavani, Maharashtra's groovy folk dance. She has to match steps with dancing divas Helen (Mungda mungda main gur ki dali) and Madhuri Dixit (Humko aaj kal in Sailaab) both of whom gave a sexy makeover to the Lavani.

‘Chikni Chameli’ is her first official item number in ‘Agneepath’ and the above seen first look image has gone viral on the net with her fans going frantic in the lines of Dhanush's Tanglish song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di?’

Katrina Kaif’s sultry sexy avatar has given her fans all the more reasons to admire her versatile image. However the same can’t be said about her contemporaries and rival actresses as this gives them another feature to envy Katrina.

However Katrina like other stars too has learnt the style to be diplomatic with each of her statement and carefully forms one when it comes to controversies. The actress was recently quizzed over her item number in the film starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in lead. It was rumored that Priyanka unlike others was not too happy with Katrina’s special item number that was injected in her film at the last minute.

When Katrina was asked to put some light over this, the actress was quick to confirm that her item number would not affect Priyanka’s star value or her screen presence in the film.

It was reported earlier that soon-to-be-married actors, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, have made a pact of sorts that they will not shoot intimate scenes with any of their co-stars in future.

The report came soon after Kareena’s next big ticket film, Heroine went on floors, and reports about Saif having to do steamy scenes with Deepika Padukone in Race 2, came out.

Bring this up, and Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of Heroine, says, “Kareena is a thorough professional. She won’t ever disappoint her directors. She never asks for alterations in scenes. She suggests ways to make them better and participates in discussions. She got into the skin of her character from day one last week. So, I don’t know anything about any news story, but I know my heroine is doing a fabulous job.”

The controversial movie, which was first offered to Kareena, followed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and then to Kareena again, went on floors last week at Film City, Goregaon. Over the last week, scenes have been shot at different locations across the city, including malls and beaches. After a 20-day schedule, the shooting will take a small break and resume in January with the second schedule.

“We started with a bang. It was a buzzy song, followed by a photo shoot that Dabboo Ratnani, who is playing himself in my film, will be seen doing with Kareena and Arjun (Rampal). Their chemistry and energy was fantastic,” says an elated Madhur, who will shoot portions of his film, based on Hollywood and Bollywood actors, in Delhi and a couple of locations abroad.

“Over the last week, we have shot a lot of intensely dramatic scenes with Kareena. She, as I had thought, is a dream to work with.”

Apparently, the actor broke down on the sets a couple of times while shooting the emotional scenes. “It’s true,” says Madhur. “We didn’t have to provide her with any additional help. Once we got rolling, after a detailed discussion of the scene, she actually had tears in her eyes while delivering her lines. I couldn’t have found a better heroine for Heroine."

Hrithik Roshan, who plays a superhero in 'Krrish II, has decided to help his father Rakesh Roshan in the direction department.

Hrithik is now going to be the associate director for the sequel to Krish that started rolling December 1st at Filmistan Studios with Vivek Oberoi, Kangna Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra.

This is not the first time that the actor has stepped behind the camera for his father. Hrithik was an assistant director to Roshan Sr. for his films like 'Koyla' and 'Karan Arjun'. Apart from this, he has helped his father out whenever the two have made a film together.

The first schedule of the film started on December 1st and Hrithik was not a part of the first schedule but has come on the sets to take part in the direction process.

Hrithik will join the cast in front of the camera from the second schedule.

Sonu Nigam is trending on Twitter, but not for a new song sung by him.

His 4-year-old son Nevaan Nigam, has put a kiddy spin to Why This Kolaveri Di, Dhanush's chartbuster from upcoming film 3.

The original Why This Kolaveri Di song, which was uploaded on November 16, is still a rage in YouTube with 16,228,211 hits. Nevaan's version was uploaded Sunday and it has already got 63,586 hits.

"Oh my god I'm in love with Nevaan Nigam s version of Kolaveri. Great idea Sonu nigam ji. It's very touching and endearing. Hi 5 Nevaan. God bless," tweeted Dhanush, who has sung the original Tanglish version.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik is suing a popular Indian men's magazine for millions of dollars, accusing it of publishing photos she says were doctored to make her appear nude, her lawyer said Monday.

Malik's racy images in the December issue of FHM India has triggered a fury across her conservative Islamic country, with one cleric calling them a “shame for all Muslims.”

The photo essay appears to make light of the military rivalry between India and Pakistan, nuclear-armed neighbors who have fought three wars.

In the magazine's cover photo, Malik is shown wearing no clothing, but with her arms and legs discreetly positioned to keep her covered. She has the letters ISI stenciled on her arm, representing Pakistan's powerful spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

In a second photo, she is lying on a camouflage military helmet and in a third she is wearing what appears to be a green ammunition belt and pretending to pull the pin out of a grenade with her teeth. She appears to be topless in those images.

Malik's lawyer, Ayaz Bilawala, denied the nude cover photo was authentic and said Malik was wearing underwear throughout the entire shoot. He sent notice to the magazine and was filing papers in the Mumbai High Court demanding all copies of the magazine be removed from newsstands, he said. The suit was also seeking 100 million rupees (US$2 million) in damages.

“She has been cheated, and there has been tampering, and the photographs have been morphed,” he said. “She has not posed in the manner in which she has been shown.”

He also disputed the magazine's assertion that it possessed a video of the shoot that would prove the photos were real.

FHM India editor Kabeer Sharma insisted the photos were authentic and said he had just come out of a meeting with the magazine's lawyers where they watched the video of the photo session proving his case.

“It's a considered decision on our part not to make that video public because of the nature of the video,” he said.

Sharma said the magazine had received the legal notice.

“The allegations are entirely false and we are investigating various options, including a countersuit,” he said.

Malik courted controversy last year when she participated in India's “Bigg Boss” reality show, where celebrities are locked in a house together. Conservative Pakistani clerics lambasted her both for appearing on a show in arch-rival India and for appearing to canoodle with Ashmit Patel, an Indian actor in the house.

Actress Richa Gangopadhyay, who had signed up for the Hindi film Shortcut Romeo, which features actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, has walked out of the project. The Mayakkam Enna-fame actress took the decision after the crew demanded more dates from her.

Shortcut Romeo is the remake of the Tamil hit Thiruttu Payale, which was directed by Susi Ganesan. The Hindi version has Neil Nitin Mukesh and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. Richa was to play the role that Sonia Agarwal had played in the Tamil version.

"Before I signed the film, both the director and the actor were flexible with the dates and I had also informed them that I would be simultaneously doing a Telugu project. But after the agreement was signed and film confirmed, Neil Nithin Mukesh was slightly pushy about the dates and wanted me to commit for three full months for this film," says the actress.

The upset actress has even explained her situation to them. "In fact, they promised to close the shoot by February. But it's already December and the shooting is yet to start," added the actress.

However, Richa is inclined to do the movie. "I really liked the script and the photoshoot has also been done. But because of a simple logistics issue, I had to terminate the agreement. It's formally over now. Presently, I'm doing only a Telugu project," the actress informed.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's wedding is due next year but sister Soha Ali Khan says that they have not started preparing for the wedding as both of them are busy with Agent Vinod.

Saif, 41, who announced recently that he will tie the knot with girlfriend Kareena in March, is currently busy with the post-production of his upcoming action-thriller film.

"Currently, they are busy with Agent Vinod. After the film we will start their wedding preparation. We don't want to leave any stones unturned for it. Everything will start after the film gets released," said Soha.

Soha, 33, who herself has no plans of marriage in the near future, is currently busy with her first comedy Chemistry along with actor Shreyas Talpade.

"I am excited that for first time I will be doing a comedy film because I was bored after playing widows in the film. It's a fun film and people will see my humorous side for the first time," she said.

The actress who was last seen in Soundtrack, was in the capital to launch Park Avenue's autumn/winter 2011 range.

Asked whose dressing sense does she admire, she said, "I believe my family has a unique style of dressing. My mother was one of the divas of 1960's and my brother is one of the stylish actors of the industry."

Poorna Jagannathan, who made her Bollywood debut with Delhi Belly, finds Deepika Padukone as one of the most stylish actresses in the Hindi film industry.

"Deepika, knows how to carry herself, super great body, super athletic, I love that look, and she is a wonderful actress," said Poorna at the launch of the Campari calendar here.

Poorna has been away from the arc lights after delivering a wonderful performance in Delhi Belly.

"It's been a bit of a roller-coaster, it has been a little unexpected with what happened with Delhi Belly. Then I went back to New York... it is good to be here," stated the 38-year-old actor.

Poorna will soon be seen in director Bruce Beresford's comedy-drama Peace, Love and Misunderstanding.

Evergreen romantic star Dev Anand, who has given classic films like Guide and Hare Rama Hare Krishna and epitomised the suave, urban gentleman on screen, died in London.

Mohan Churiwala, The Legendary actor's manager said "Dev Anand was 88yrs old and succumbed to cardiac arrest in a London hotel where he was staying with his son, Sunil, a one-time actor. Sunil saw Dev Anand not responding and called the doctor. The doctor said that he had a heart attack. He died at 2200hrs in London."

Dev Anand, who started his career in the black and white era with 1946 film Hum Ek Hai, spent 65 years under the arc lights as an actor and filmmaker. The actor worked tirelessly, coming up with new films after short intervals. He never hung his boots or sat on his laurels. In fact, even before his death, he was planning for another movie.

Dev Anand's Chargesheet that released earlier this year, became his swan song. His amazing zest for life and dynamism may have come to an end but it would undecidedly be a source of inspiration for many.

Vikram has made it very clear.

"I have taken the audience on an emotional journey in Ravanan and Deiva Thirumagal. Now I would like to make my fans feel good with my 'gym boy' persona in Rajapattai," said the actor.

Directed by Suseenthiran, Rajapattai is touted to be a powerful entertainer and has Deeksha Seth making her Tamil debut as the lead opposite Chiyaan Vikram. Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is composing the music for the film is also very upbeat about his first time association with a Vikram starrer.

"These days we read in newspapers about incidents of land grabbing and the police action on the wrong-doers. This is the basic knot of Rajapattai," revealed the makers of the film. With the plot revolving around the ubiquitous criminal phenomenon of land encroachment, Rajapattai has come to be seen as a potential action film as well.

Vikram looks very convincing as usual in his role and he has made the persona of the gym boy his own. To further reach the audience in a more effective way, the actor has released a string of mobile apps across all platforms. He is the second actor in South India to do it, after our very own Mahesh Babu.

Amongst all other highlights, the film also has a hot item song with actors Shriya Saran and Reema Sen shaking their legs with Vikram. Now if this isn't interesting enough, you just got to wait until the movie hits the big screen later this month.

While Hazel Keech aka Rose Dawn spiced up Billa with the item number 'Sei yedhavathu sei.,' Meenakshi Dixit will be grooving for the special song in the second instalment, that is touted to be prequel of the Billa.

Well, grapevine is abuzz with the news that the makers of the film have zeroed in on Meenakshi Dixit for an item number in Billa II.

The movie bosses signed Meenakshi Dixit for the item number, after much deliberation considering quite a few actresses before roping her in. It is said that her recent item number in Telugu movie Dookudu had created a rage and had impressed them enough to have her sizzle with Ajith Kumar for the tune composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja in Billa II.

Apart from Ajith Kumar, Billa II directed by Chakri Toleti has Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah in the lead roles.

Businessman, is an upcoming film directed by Puri Jagannath with Prince Mahesh Babu and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead.

Businessman is one of the highly anticipated films to release early in 2012 after Mahesh's Dookudu that created collection records across the globe.

The music for Businessman is composed by Thaman who has been rocking down South with hits like Dookudu and Osthe still reigning the charts.

The title track will have Mahesh Babu and Puri Jagannath lending their voices and a promo video has been planned featuring them and Thaman as well to be shot in a studio in a casual setting rather reminiscent of Kolaveri di, which is currently the rage across the globe.

The comparison was inevitable and fans voiced the opinion that Mahesh Babu was copying Dhanush.

Thaman has begged the fans not to compare the two tracks as they are entirely different. He said they all think that Kolaveri di is awesome and they have no intention of trying to emulate its feat.

Anushka is praying that they will put more hours in a day as she simply cannot find dates these days.

Anushka Shetty is being flooded with the creme de la creme of offers and she has no idea how to accommodate them all.

The actor is being considered for the role of Rajni's heroine in Kochadaiyaan and she is very keen to grab the project.

Now we hear that she has also been offered Billa II with Ajith.

Anushka is going crazy as she is dying to work with both Rajni and Ajith and is doing everything humanly possible to somehow accommodate both the films.

Richa Gangopadhyay is feeling overwhelmed with the response to Mayakkam Enna and says that she has got a lot of positive feedback from fans and she could not have asked for a better launch in Tamil.

Richa was full of praise for Selvaraghavan and Dhanush for their work in the film and is eagerly awaiting her next release, Osthe opposite STR.

According to Richa, Osthe should also do wonders to her career as it is entirely in the commercial format.

"The two roles are diametrically different and I'm happy to have received my opportunity in proving my versatility this early in my career," said Richa expecting to prove herself as a versatile actor.

Although the title for the upcoming Vijay - A.R Murugadoss film is decided as Thupaakki, it seems the same title will see some trouble in Telugu.

Thupaakki is a bilingual and according to sources close to the director, the title Thupaakki is already registered with the Telugu Films Chamber by Jinka Harish Babu.

Also, it seems that Jinka Harish Babu is unwilling to part with the title 'Thupaakki' as his movie is already underway.

According to Harish Babu, his film focuses on terrorism and he wants the title 'Thupaakki' that somewhat describes the storyline.

While there are no immediate announcements from the Murugadoss stable about the title trouble, it's likely that Murugadoss will want to buy out Thupaakki from Harish.
