Vidya Balan, the actress who is playing the role of the late glamour legend Silk Smitha faced a typical problem during a bath tub scene shoot. After shooting for the steamy bathtub scene, the actress developed a skin rash so severe that she had to be hurried to a dermatologist.
Who said Bollywood acting was easy?
With so much skin showing in almost every Bollywood movie these days, the filmmakers of The Dirty Picture were not going to hold back either.
Vidya was shooting for a scene in Film City (Goregaon), where the actress clad in a towel had to step into a bathtub filled with soap water (sounds like a piece of cake so far), however after some time Vidya’s skin started to feel rough. Although she ignored it initially, she did raise an alarm when the rough patches gave way to red rashes that later turned unbearable.
Of course the filming was put on hold before Vidya’s skin condition got any worse. Worse comes to worse, a source later revealed, “Vidya soon realised that she had developed an allergy. The rash spread all over her body. She quickly got dressed. Abandoning the shoot and went to see the doctor immediately."
It’s reported that the films producer, Ekta Kapoor had organised for mineral water to be filled in the bathtub, as the film’s director, Milan Luthria is very particular about his actors getting the best.
So what could have caused this? Vidya’s dermatologist attributes the allergic reaction to the quality of soap used.
"The soap used must have had a higher alkali content causing the skin to break out with that kind of rash. This happens when a person is exposed to soap water for a very long time,” said the doctor who gave treatment to the actress.
We’re guessing she won’t be appearing in any of the Indian soap advertisements in the near future.
