Former Miss India and Bollywood actress Gul Panag, who is known to be a fitness enthusiast, believes in having a robust lifestyle but maintains that she doesn’t blindly follow a fitness routine.

“My fitness mantra is adaptability. I keep in mind that I need to do 45 minutes of intense physical activity a day, whether I am travelling or whether it is raining. And so I adapt my fitness plan according to the situation,” Gul told IANS in an interview.

“I take into account how my body is feeling on any given day and don’t blindly follow a routine for the sake of it,” she added.

The actress, who has been part of films like “Dhoop”, “Dor”, “Manorama Six Feet Under”, “Hello Darling” and “Turning 30" feels that gymming is not the only way to stay fit, there are other outdoor options available too.

“There are a countless options other than gymming to stay fit. Taking the stairs, choosing to walk whenever possible, cycling, running outdoors, etc, all help,” she said.

“In fact if one chooses an active lifestyle, one doesn’t need to sweat it out in a gym,” she added.

The 32-year-old, who recently tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Rishi Attari, opined that ideally five days of workout is good enough for a healthy lifestyle. This gives the body two days to rest.

Along with physical exercise, the nature of diet is also of prime importance to remain fit and Gul feels that binging is a strict no-no.

“What you eat is very important. I adapt my daily intake of food to the weather, location and my activity levels. I eat sensibly and don’t binge,” she said.

The actress specified that women need to take extra care about certain things when they are working out to avoid any problem later.

“The right attire and support is very important, especially for high impact exercises. Women need to bear in mind that after a certain age, there is loss in bone density and they need to focus on strength training,” she said.

“Most importantly if following an outdoor routine, one should always keep one’s safety in mind,” she added.

Bollywood diva Gul Panag, who chose to have a private wedding, married her long-time beau Gurshwinder Singh Attari aka Rishi on Sunday in Panchkula, Haryana, near Chandigarh. The actress had a traditional Punjabi style wedding with the airline pilot.
Her marriage was solemnized according to Sikh rituals at a gurudwara, while the reception happened at a hotel in sector 5 in Panchkula.

The guest list was limited to only close friends and family.

Gul wore embroidered pink lehenga on her big day
Gul, who opted for a low key wedding, wore an embroidered pink lehenga designed by JJ Valaya and wore a heavy neckpiece and earrings. While the turbaned Attari looked cool in the white sherwani he wore for the occasion.

After the wedding ceremony at the gurdwara, the granthi blessed the newly wedded couple and offered prasad.

Gul and Attari chose an Enfield bike ride after marriage
After the wedding, the couple took a bike ride in a Royal Enfield rather than opting for a car. Attari, who’s a pilot by profession, rode the bike, while Gul sat in the side chair.

The newlywed couple was followed by a bharat, which consisted of riders on 20 Enfield motorcycles.

It’s learnt that it was Gul’s idea to make her wedding an adventurous one and so the actress chose to have a fancy ride in a bike till the reception venue after the traditional Punjabi wedding.

Talking about Gul’s bike expedition after the wedding, her close relative from Chandigarh said, "It was Gul's idea as she wanted to do something different for her wedding.”

Gul’s Bollywood friends skipped the wedding
Gul, who chose to have a guest list constrained to family and friends, had invited few of her close pals to her wedding. However, her friends Purab Kohli and Eesha Kopikkar couldn’t make it to the wedding.

It’s learnt that most of her Bollywood colleagues were not even aware that the actress was getting married. Gul, who kept her wedding a secret, is also planning to have a small reception in Mumbai.

Actor Gul Panag, who married Gurshwinder Singh Attari aka Rishi, a Jet Airways pilot, in Chandigarh, on Sunday, thought of a novel idea to reach the reception venue, the Bella Vista hotel, from the gurudwara. The couple arrived at the hotel with Rishi riding a royal Enfield and Gul sitting in the sidecar much like actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in Sholay. Gul, 32, known to be an avid biker was accompanied by 20 friends, all on their bikes. The wedding was a close- knit affair with family and close friends, followed by a small reception. The only ones in attendance from the film industry were filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava and actors Shruti Seth and Koel Puri.

Gul later said to the media, “How did you like it? I want to ride a bike, but let me act like a shy bride.” Gul donned an onion pink lehenga, while the groom wore an off-white sherwani. The couple will now host a reception for their Bollywood friends in Mumbai.

Gul Panag who was last seen in Turning 30, is all set to tie the knot with her former classmate on Sunday. The actress met her soon to be hubby, airline pilot Rishi Attari ten years back. With the wedding just around the corner, Gul Panag is gearing up for sangeet, mehndi and all other wedding festivities in Chandigarh.

Though the wedding will be a small family affair in Chandigarh, the actress will throw a grand wedding reception for B-town celebs in Mumbai.

Panag, who was last seen as a bindaas chick in Turning 30, had a wild bachelorette party in Delhi, her parents' hometown. Buzz is that the couple has been busy planning out the wedding and their outfits. Apparently the actress will be donning bridal finery designed by Anita Dongre and JJ Vallaya.

Rumour has it that the couple will head to a secret destination for the honeymoon.

The wedding is surely a happy occasion for the actress, but for her male fans, it's heartbreak time!
