Little-known Tamil actor Dhanya Balakrishna, who hails from Bangalore, has become an "issue" between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu after she allegedly hurt Tamil sentiment by posting certain messages on her Facebook account.
Dhanya's facebook post regarding the IPL playoffs has almost cost the budding actor her promising career in Kollywood.
The actor's remarks ignited a fierce backlash on social networking sites, rattling the tinsel world damsel so much that she has decided to shun the Tamil film industry for good.
After the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) entered the playoffs, the young star gave vent to her feelings at local team Royal Challengers Bangalore's defeat turning out to be a gain for CSK.

Note: This discussion was personal within Dhanya's friend circle and should have remained so. The screenshot of this post was published online by someone within the actor's friends list, that has cost Dhanya her acting career in the Tamil film industry. This must have been overlooked and shouldn't have become a public issue in the first place.
A new entrant to Kollywood, she had acted in the big-budget '7-Am Arivu' along with Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruti, and in a romance film, "Kadhalil Sodhappuvathu Eppadi', a runaway hit that also released in Telugu. With a handful of projects her career in Tamil filmdom looked very promising.
The actor asking whether Chennai is not ashamed has incensed emotions and the cyber world was on fire. Facebook was flooded with messages and even a Hate Dhanya page was created. Kollywood too did not relish her action and indications were that she might face the music in the days to come. Her indiscretion has given fodder to pro-Tamil parties to whip up passions.
South Indian Film Artistes Association president and politico R Saratkumar, who is on the campaign trail at Pudukottai for the assembly by-poll, said he would look into this after his return.
Having stirred a hornet's nest, Dhanya has issued a statement announcing her decision to quit Kollywood. "I am withdrawing from the films that I have accepted and I will not come back," the actor has said. This, she believes would put an end to the controversy.
Dhanya is not remembered for acting in any Kannada movies. But suddenly, she has become the centre of attention. The Kannada film industry's efforts to trace her have been in vain. No one in the Kannada film industry, is even aware of the actor's existence in the Tamil film industry.
Some of the biggest superstars of Tamil cinema hail from Karnataka, starting from Rajinikanth to the latest sensation Anushka Shetty. Even Action King Arjun and the dancing sensation and acclaimed film-maker Prabhudeva hail from Karnataka.
